It Really Does Kill Nut Sedge
I've tried three other brand name herbicides that claimed to kill nut sedge (none did effectively). I hired two different weed control companies and at great expense, they were no more effective than the brand name herbicides I used. So, as a last resort before doing a complete kill off of my lawn and turning it into a rock garden, I decided to give Basagran Sedge Control a try. The first thing I noticed, was that even though during the first few days the nut sedge was remaining green and healthy looking, it had not grown any at all, unlike those in my unfortunate neighbors lawn. After ten days, 95% of my nut sedge was a dead brown color and all it took was another application on the remaining nut sedge to completely rid my lawn of it. My lawn is now healthier looking than it has been in three years. Nut sedge is a monster of a weed to control, so I fully expect it to make an appearance again next spring, but I will be ready this time to do an early extermination. If you are having problems with yellow nut sedge, do not hesitate to buy this herbicide. By the way, prior to application, I mixed an ounce of Bonide 097 Tubro Spreader Sticker to insure better adhesion to the nut sedge blades. I assume any good oil mix would perform as well.

Amazing Stuff
If you live in South Florida and are tormented by the spreading weed "Dayflower' you already know the typical Weed and Feed only makes it happy and strong. It spreads like a bad rash and even pulling it just spreads the seeds. Basagran is the only product, and I mean only, as straight Round Up doesn't even kill it, that destroys the monster weed. You have to follow the directions and mix with a horticultural oil, don't mow for 10 days or so and don't water for as long as you can hold out. Try for at least 3 or 4 days. The St Augustine underneath might stress slightly but it will come back with a good soak of water and a little Milorganite after the weed is killed off. Use at the first sign of that blue flowered terrorist and you won't be sorry. This stuff is a miracle.

This was a great purchase at competitive pricing and quick delivery by a responsive Amazon seller!
In combination with two other chemicals, Basagran Sedge Control is very effective in controlling many types of weeds that grow among our St Augustine lawn.

the product worked after second application although they do not recommend treatment more than once a year. I still have a serious problem throughout my flower beds, I may have to dig up many of my perennials and sterilize soil. I am overwhelmed at the thought. The sedge I am having difficulty with looks like tall grass.

Basagran for sedge control
For 20 years I had paid services for mowing and insect/weed/fertilizer treatments. That resulted in having to completely replace my lawn because of inadequate treatments, even though I changed companies over the years. When I had the new lawn put in five years ago, I decided to care for it all myself -- bought a Honda self-propelled mower, printed/read many Ag-center articles from the internet, and talked to my brother-in-law who is a lawn guru. He recommended Basagran for St. Augustine grass here in Central Florida to eliminate certain types of weeds. The larger globe sedge with roots is easily pulled out but the smaller, wispier sedge really infiltrates the healthy lawn -- Basagran did a pretty good job of killing it without totally killing the rest of the lawn. Take care to mix it carefully per label instructions. I also used Bonide turbo to help the Basagran stick to the blades of sedge. I do only sections of my lawn at a time -- don't want to take the chance of harming large portions of the lawn (never can be sure when using chemicals), and the solution has to be used up at the time of mixing, so using a 1-gallon pump sprayer only permits applying it to a limited area.Gave this only 4 stars because in some areas had to apply it twice but it's the best product I've found to get rid of the wispy smaller sedge -- along with dollar weed and clover. My neighbors always comment on how good my lawn looks and this Basagran has definitely helped to control the specific weeds.

I have had a sedge problem for years. The sedge problem has been identified by my county agent as "cyclintrical sedge", no known cure!Recently the county agent indicated that the sedge expert at Clemson stated that "Basagran" would take-out cyclindrical sedge. I applied the Basagran per directions. The seed stems and leaves have turned brown and appear to have died!! The key issue is: have the underground nodes been affected? I will not know until next year if the underground nodes have been killed. Lets hope!!

No good so far
At this point in time it hasn't killed anything (1 month in). Will treat again and change rating if it kills weed.

Didn't work for me.... :(
I'm sorry to say this product did not work on the Nutgrass sedge in my yard. I followed the instructions but perhaps didn't make it strong enough. Over a period of 1 week the nutgrass turned yellow and appeared to be dying, but it bounced right back and now is just as green and thriving as ever. The patches of nutgrass actually look like they've gotten larger!.
