Joseph Joseph Totem Waste Separation and Recycling Unit, Blue/Grey, 60 Litre

Love this bin, so much so I thought I’d write a review of a bin...Now everyone who comes round to ours comments on the bin, not sure if they all love the colour or just the simplicity of its design. Not cheap, however a worthy investment without many parts to fail (hopefully) if looked after. I have had auto sensor bins in the past which haven’t lasted more than 12 months so I was happy to go back to a manual bin.Previously I used to throw food and rubbish in the bin and amass a pile of recycling next to it making my kitchen look constantly untidy with a smelly bin. This bin has resulted in my wheelie bin having plenty of space come collection day as I recycle much more due to the easiness of different compartment. Emptying and refilling is easy and I now use the food caddy compartment to empty into my ‘garden’ wheelie bin. Previously each bin collection day my normal wheelie bin would be overflowing, such an obvious example of how easier this bin makes it to recycle.The designers have thought of everything including vents so your bin bags don’t get trapped, my only slight complain is fingerprints show on the top/push button. Lost a star on value for money as it is very expensive but I managed to get the bin whilst on offer. It did have a small dint in, amazon chat offered me a slight discount which I was happy to take as I could almost completely remove the dint with a hammer (rolling pin) from the inside... perhaps Joseph Joseph need to package them a bit better as a few have had this issue whilst in transit.I think the recommended Joseph Joseph bin bags are fairly expensive and found cheaper alternatives which perform just as well. I purchased on Amazon 150 Bags Compost Bin Liners 6L and the others are White 50L drawstring from supermarke - they are a little snug to put on (as are the recommended ones) however this helps keep the bin looking tidy and no bags are on show.Not bothered changing the smell filter bit as the food caddy generally keeps nasty smells concealed well enough to not open your bin and want to gag.That’s about it, great bin would highly recommend.

Best unit I've owned. Expensive, sure but you get the quality you're paying for. Unfortunately the item is discounted so if you get a chance to pick one up you should. Vast storage and plenty of compartments for conscious recycling.Very stylish, very easy to clean and never smells thanks to filters.

shape fits our kitchen and is unobtrusive even though it is twice the size of my old bin. Height is ideal, no more painful bending over. Drawer holds a generous amount of recyclables so the number of trips out to the green bin is down from every day to twice a week and the general waste is down to once a week. However, we are an older couple with very little waste in comparison to what a modern family of four or more would probably generate. Cleaning is easy and we are very pleased with it.

We decided to invest in this bin as we were moving to our new flat and couldn't be happier. The bin is excellent and easy to clean. It has a small filter that helps keep all the bad smells inside and also the fact of having the two divisions help us separate for our recycling and food waste in the separate food caddy. It has been about two years since we got it and still looking good.

This is a great looking bin and each of the buckets are a good practical size.Pros:- Looks great.- Extra height and a small footprint are a good combination. Our old bin was shorter and fatter.- Not necessary to use the branded bags.- Wheels and handle for easy movement.- But rubber grips the floor so the bin doesn't slide.Cons:- Most don't come with the food waste caddy. We bought it separately. The caddy works really well.- Shows up fingerprints very badly.- Bottom drawer rolls easily but handle is small and low down. I can just about open it by poking my toes into the handle - otherwise I have to bend down to open by hand (as intended)...a bit inconvenient.Time will tell if it can survive three kids...it looks stylish but not convinced about how robust it will turn out.

I never thought I'd rave about a bin but these are just fantastic. The only negative is the price as they are so expensive, for a bin it's ridiculous, however that said I dont regret buying it as i had a gift voucher towards the cost so I bit the bullet and went for it, it really does make emptying the bin and recycling so much easier and less messy. Great unit and I get comments on it all the time.

I am someone who likes to buy the best that we can afford - items with a little more style but that must be fit for purpose as well. This bin ticks all the boxes despite some of the negative reviews I am more than happy. The blue grey finish is not too oppresive in the kitchen additing its splash of colour. The bin sizes are good and the filter fits well. Good construction - it feels solid. I would happily buy again.

*edit* I have now dropped this right down in my rating due to a couple of issues. Firstly, I lost the filter cover somehow and when i asked about a replacement, the correct colour had already been discontinued.My main complaint now though is that I have noticed corrosion along the inside of the lid. This is absolutely unacceptable for a bin costing this amount of money which is only about 18 months old. Very disappointed and would certainly not recommend this product now. Not the quality I would expect.Absolutely love this bin. I use ordinary bin bags as the JJ ones are stupidly expensive. Was just really annoyed that the price came down by £30 very soon after I bought it.

Ich habe lange nach einer guten Mülltrennung für meine kleine Küchennische gesucht und mich sofort in den Totem verliebt. Die Farbe ist klasse, allerdings etwas mehr ins Grau als auf den Bildern. Dennoch ein gelungener Artikel. Besonders gut gefällt mir die vielseitige Nutzbarkeit der verschiedenen Behälter, sodass bei mir der gesamte Hausmüll fein säuberlich getrennt aufbewahrt werden kann und ich trotzdem nich alle 2 Tage den Müll rausschaffen muss, da die Behälter ausreichend groß sind. Ich persönlich verwende nicht mehr die Originaltüten, habe preiswerteren Ersatz gefunden, der es auch tut. Zudem verwende ich keinen Kohlefilter und trotzdem hat der Müll noch nie gestunken, obwohl ich ihn manchmal 2 Wochen sammle, bevor ich ihn endgültig entsorge. Klares Manko: der hohe Preis. Zudem finde ich es schade, dass der untere Behälter richtige Führung hat, sodass es manchmal etwas hakelig ist, ihn wieder in den Totem zu schieben. Ansonsten bin ich noch immer begeistert und habe den Kauf keinen einzigen Tag bereut, da der Totem ein richtiger Blickfang in meiner Küche geworden ist und sehr hochwertig ist.

Nunca pensé que estaría tan contento con un simple cubo de basura. Lo recomiendo a todo el mundo, al ser alto y poder mantener la tapa abierta facilita mucho su uso en la cocina, sobretodo al estar cocinando.El cajón inferior para el reciclaje es perfecto y desliza perfectamente.Diseño espectacular.100% recomendable.

We just moved and have limited space. I was looking for a recycling container that would be "dog proof" with a lid and wanted something that looked nicer than a "commercial" looking recycle bin. I came across the Joseph trash and recycle can and thought it was the perfect solution. The recycle section is smaller than any of the individual recycle bins I could find but I love that it's all contained in one unit. I typically have to empty it every other day so that's not too bad. I also really like that the trash section takes regular trash bags and I don't have to make an additional purchase to make this system work. Although it's expensive, I'm totally happy with the products quality and functionality - it was the perfect solution for our space and needs.

Gran calidad y diseño único, pero... ¡carísimo! Novedoso diseño. Cubo extraible de orgánico, un acierto. Todo recogido en un dispositivo, pero el precio...

Très belle poubelle, fonctionnelle. Les bacs ont une bonne capacité ce qui est un plus. les petites roulettes permettent de la déplacer facilement malgré son poids. La couleur bleu est juste magnifique. Elle a été livré très bien emballée et très rapidement. Je ne regrette pas d'avoir mit le prix pour cette poubelle (211€ à l’époque)
