YuasaYUAM2219A 51913 Battery, black and white

I needed to replace the battery on my BMW R1150GS, the OEM battery from the dealer was over $200. This is a direct replacement and Yuasa are the OEM batteries for many motorcycles so I trusted the quality. I was lucky enough to purchase it for $65 so the savings alone outweighed any inconvenience of having to wait a few days for shipping.The battery does ship dry, meaning acid needs to be added. I made a trip to the local auto parts store and purchased a quart of battery acid for $3.99 it came with a pour spout so it was no mess adding the acid to the battery. Just take your time and fill each cell to the same height. You can also set the battery on a piece of cardboard on your garage floor just in case you do spill a little acid.Be responsible and take the old battery to recycling center to be disposed of properly, don't just throw it in the trash. The auto parts store where you purchase the acid may take the old one for you.

This was supposed to be a "sealed" battery, but was not. It needed the addition of battery acid, which is near impossible to find these days. Shame on me for not returning it, but I am old enough to rememberhow to set up a battery, so I went forward.I followed directions explicitly on adding acid, resting, low voltage charge and so on. After a day, it was up to snuff . I put in on my voltage meter. I installed and it worked great. That was 2 weeks ago.Now? It will not crank, just a few turns and then nothing.Avoid this cheap battery.

I have always had the best luck with Yuasa batteries. They contain a sulfation fighter that prolongs the life of the battery. I keep my batteries clean, remove them from the motorcycles and lawnmowers for the winter, charge them, wash them, and store them on a wooden shelf. I have had a Yuasa battery last for 14 years. They are a better buy than the new fibermat sealed batteries.

Hard to get too excited about a battery, but it is a Yuasa. Hard to go wrong there. And for the price I paid I am more than satisfied with it's performance. Yuasa is a good consistent product. My only complaint is that it did not come with a container of acid. The local auto store had a jug for $10, but many online distributors include that nowadays.

Smaller and lighter than my stock battery. The part that was the biggest hassle was finding a place that sold battery acid. No one carries battery acid anymore, at least in my area. Even if they did, I was lucky that the one place carried just enough for this battery.UPDATE: This is not the correct battery for the 2011 BMW R1100S. I am only getting to this now, but after a month, the battery faults the ABS. I went to BMW and they tried to reset the system and there was nothing wrong w/ the ABS. I went to a battery specialty shop and they found that the issue was with this particular battery. I don't recall the specifics of what they said, but it was not providing enough power for the ABSystem.

Battery is great, just remember to buy battery acid to fill it at your local auto parts store before it arrives.

It worked, but I didn't know it came empty (without the liquids) so I had to go to autozone to have it filled and then wait for it to be charged...bummer!

buyer beware, the one I got was a dud. bought as an amazon return (thought I was getting a good deal)the battery had had something in it (I should have returned it then) I bought acid and filled it.put it in and attached the trickle charger (a good .75A charger) it never did keep or take a charge.Amazon, maybe lead-acid batteries need a vendor interaction to validate returns.I'm out this cost and the cost of the acid - pretty bummed.When I get it out I'll put a meter on it and see...
