Cuisipro 4 Cup Fat Separator

Q: How does this compare with the Amco Swingaway separator, which costs 60% less? They seem similar; does one work better?

I bought a Swing-A-Way grease separator that broke right away in 2011. The company replaced it immediately with another one that I have been using almost weekly for 7 years. It still works great and the company has great customer service. I just don't wash it in the dishwasher.

Q: Would this work for making ghee?

I have tried making ghee in the Fat Separator. The details said it was heat resistance. Setting my oven on 200 oF (below boiling water) resulted in the Separator deforming and melting. Not recommended.

Q: Is this made in China?

This one is made in China but it’s a knockoff (I bought the real thing from the company to compare). This one comes in a box with the cuisinart name but the quality is very poor and the branding isn’t on the item at all.
