Plastic
Works great, hopefully has been redesigned from original- I know several people with same tank all had the same problem with them cracking. Its not a seller problem but a manufacture problem. This seller was great and shipping was fast

Fit almost perfect
Although the nozzle that the gas line connects to didn't line up exactly, it still fit to within a fraction of an inch and my machine ran great again. It was a simple installation but might have been better if instructions or a diagram had been included. All the bolts did line up so there were no problems setting it where the old one was.

Improved OEM Replacement
Exact fit and replacement for existing tank. Heat shield melted and rubbed a hole into top and side of tank. Briggs & Stratton Customer Service did not return my messages so I removed a small section of the heat shield cage near the tank to prevent tank damage in the future. This new tank is equal or heavier wall material with internal mesh to prevent splashing. As a bonus included with the tank is a larger cap with a keeper cable and anchor that inserts into the tank filler to prevent losing the cap. Another advantage is the cap is much taller than existing which aids in removing the cap with gloves. For those of you who don't like the new style cap the old one still fits and functions fine; keep the new one for a spare.

which worked fine for a year
The hardest part about replacing this fuel tank was figuring out which tank fit my 15 year old mower! As it turns out, most of the Briggs and Stratton tanks are the same, with this being the most common of them.Replacement is easy, exact procedures depend on your motor configuration. In my case (MTD Yard Machines mower) I simply had to remove the plastic cover over the pull cord (3 snap tabs holding it in place), remove the 3 bolts holding the fuel tank down and pry the dip-stick tube out of the way. Disconnecting the fuel line was the final removal step, then slide the old tank out and the new tank in. Without the other maintenance I chose to do the replacement would probably have taken 10 minutes tops.

perfedt fit.
Squirrels had chewed through the original tank and cap. I guess that they like gasoline. The old tank was collecting water with every rainfall. Water and gas engines do not mix well. This was an exact replacement for my old tank. Replaced it, put some gas in and three pulls later it was running.
