Alaska's Totem Poles

Native cultures and what we have lost
Excellent presentation of information about the three cultures: Haida, Tlingit, Tsimshian peoples. I especially liked and found useful the final chapter which traces the present location of artifacts from all three focusing on Totem :Poles but including reference to many other artifacts from those cultures. As I am presently planing a trip to the Northwest Coast to visit heritage sites, I have ordered a second copy (this one in hardback unlike the Kindle I have just read. I will use it as a road map to help me locate these sites. I was doubly surprised to learn of so many items in Seattle where I regularly visit. There is little if any info in the standard tourist maps, widespread circulation to help a tourist to located these items, even a tourist with specific interest in this subject!!??

good book
Good book but sometimes a difficult read. I was hoping for a few more pictures with explanations of the various totem symbols from the various tribes. A good resource book otherwise.

Disappointing
Dry, mediocre writing, and lacking of information I was looking for.Wish there were more books available on Alaska and Pacific Northwest.
