Good lock
I installed this lock just about 9 years ago. This lock worked without a problem until one day it didn't. I took it apart and it was broken, and I could not repair it.I looked in my Amazon purchases and saw I had ordered it in 2015 and ordered another, identical to the 1st lock. This new lock had a sticking number 1 key, so I just oiled it and worked with the keypad and removed the(tightness) out of it and it now works perfectly. If this new lock works as well as the old one did, I will be elated. This lock is installed on an entrance gate that is used 30 times a day to enter and exit the yard by everyone. The price has inflated over the years, but what hasn't?

AWESOME !!! This is the best product I bought ALL YEAR and I bought a lot of things.
The product is solid. i tried all the different features of the pad. The thing works like a charm. I checked everything out. It's good product for what I need because it is waterproof or weather proof, required little or no maintenance and its double sided so nobody can cheat and try to get in.The thing is Heavy Duty. Mine came with two sizes and the screws, so one for a shorter one and one for a longer one.Either way, if you need to secure your outside fense door, don't use a double sided lock, buy this.Your lock can be compromised, and it will jam and you need a key. If someone makes a duplicate, you are compromised. This, you just change the code. If you have multi unit house, have the same code but tell them in a different sequence, so they will never know. YOu don't want tenants to think that all codes are the same. If you change it they will think it only affects their unit.I just need to install it into the metal gate.Just as a mock up, i did put it on a wood wall, it was perfect. just make sure you hit clear before you start again.

No Batteries! Nice Looking Mechanical Auto-Locking Pool Gate Lock!
This fit over the existing holes in our metal gate for our pool. We had to trim the cam shaft at some of the pre-weakened break points to fit the shorter depth of the metal gate (as opposed to a door). I'm not sure it broke perfectly because now we can only open the gate by turning the handle towards the lock (so depending on which side you are on, you turn it the opposite way). One time it got really stuck, but I reached through and hit the Clear button on both side at the same time while jiggling it and it all popped free to clear again. After that we have had no issues. I like the fact that it auto locks every time the gate closes (our gate is spring loaded to close), so I don't have to worry about kids wandering in and wondering if I locked it or not. I also like the fact that there are no batteries so I never have to worry about no being able to get in if it goes dead. It is all mechanical and you can only "program it" by moving a screw driver to physically move which numbers you want for your code. Once the lock is assembled, you can't modify the code. So you have to be on the inside to dissasemble the lock to re-program it. We have a gate, so theoretically they could reach through unscrew it and reprogram or break in, but the fence is only 6 feet high (legal height for a swimming pool), so I figured if a burgler really wanted to get in, they'd just hop the fence. This is mainly for safety for children. Ours also arrived with a manufacturing defect (see photo) where they drilled through when they were milling the screw countersync. We might get some spiders living in there now... but oh well, we still like it!Here are the answers to some of the questions I had:1) The order of the numbers does NOT matter. You can also choose any length of code you want (one button or every button)2) There are NO batteries, this is a purely mechanical lock3) It auto locks EVERY time the door closes. You can not disengage the lock or close the door without locking it. (We just use a chair to prop the gate open if we want to go back and forth. You could also tape down the striker bar so it wouldn't latch for a temporary party or something.4) It fits over the handle plus deadbolt holes on our existing gate.5) It fits a variety of depths of gates and solid doors as the cam shaft can be broken to fit different depths.6) It comes with a little weather stripping gasket, but I'm not sure if that will prevent eventual rust - haven't had it long enough yet.7) It only takes about 10-15 min to install, but if I remember correctly, the instructions were extremely curt.8) It comes with it's own mini screw driver to set the code. (turning a screw 90 degrees for on or off for each button)9) If you mess up the code, you press the clear button to reset all mechanical pieces.10) There are buttons for the code going both in and out, so you need to know the code going either way.11) There is no "deadbolt" key option if you forget the code.12) You have to unscrew the lock form the door and disassemble to change the code.13) You cannot just reach through to unlock it because the other side requires a code too.It looks great and we love it!Photos:1) inside side (with screw and funky cutout of know to access bottom screw)2) Manufacturing defect where there's a hole in the screw countersync that goes all the way through.3) Outside of gate, no screws4) View from the top. at lease with our gate, you can't jimmy it open5) another viewi from top showing buttons on both sides6) shows where old knob went (you can see old outline)7) The gate from the side to show only one striber bar (we cshould probably close up the old deadbolt hole.8) latch side of gate.

Exactly what I needed! New install!!
The media could not be loaded. We had new metal security fences installed at our property. I previously had two code padlocks that were a pain to open. I knew there was a keyless, non-battery, mechanical code option but one of the main options is really expensive. I found this lock here on amazon and so far so good. I just installed two of these mechanical locks and I hope they work for a long time.Pros: the seller is amazing. Items arrived quickly with all the parts. The recommended “buy together” metal box is necessary for installation and fit perfectly. The installation video on this page was better than the instructions that came with the item. A BIG thank you to the sellers - at one point I thought I lost the parts for one of the locks and communicated with the sellers. They were going to send out new parts at no extra cost, but I didn’t need them because I found them! Excellent sellers!!!Only slightly difficult installation step was cutting the door lock spindle.

DONT BUY!!!
Bought this for a patio gate along with the suggested steel lock box. Price for the lock was lower than many comparable products. You get what you pay for. After having the box welded to my gate I discovered that it is not 100% compatible with the lock. Too late its already welded in place. I should have checked it ahead of the welding but Amazon suggested it so I assumed they had more familiarity than I. Also the lock itself has weak install instructions and the supplied screws were too short for the lock box. Oddly tho the thin center spindle was too long and would require me cutting it shorter so it doesn't bind on the inside workings of the lock. As I wasn't sure if cutting the spindle would work and once cut I would not be able to return it for a refund, I decided to return it and buy a much higher priced Lockey brand lock that is the same maker as the steel lock box. Fingers crossed that this will work. Arrives tomorrow.
