Runs narrow, so may not work for braces
I ordered these shoes for my daughter, who wears AFOs (leg braces) and doesn’t walk. First of all, the shoes are very pretty! The pic doesn’t do them justice. The black canvas is dark, and topped with the silvery, glittery pattern. However, I couldn’t get my daughter’s foot in the shoe, as the depth was very shallow, even without her braces on. Most shoes I have pulled out the inside padding to accommodate the added depth for her braces, but this shoe was too shallow even for that. They were also narrow, and didn’t fit her feet correctly, even without braces. Her normal shoe size is 4.5. I ordered a 6, and they still weren’t wide enough for her feet, and no way would they fit the braces.Sending them back, and we’re both extremely disappointed.

Great for AFOs!
Finally a shoe that works WELL with AFOs. I have a foster daughter that wears AFOs for about 80% of the day, and always wears shoes when her AFOs are on. The "athletic" shoes I've purchased for her in the past always breakdown first in the back, where her heel ends up collapsing the shoe, and no matter how careful I am with untying and opening the shoes widely, there are always PCAs and Paras that seem to struggle with it. These shoes ELIMINATE that problem entirely! I just wish they came in more sizes (hint hint!). I was unable to buy Big Kid size 3 from any of the company's retailers so I picked up a size 4 and she'll just have to grow into them. If it were up to me, she'd never wear another shoe that's not Billy made!

GREAT for people who have physical limitations!!!!
I love, love, LOVE these!!!! I am an adult with a significant physical disability and finding shoes that I can get on easily, if at all, has been nearly impossible for most of my life! These have changed the way I look for shoes and I will DEFINITELY be ordering additional pairs in more colors in the future!!I ordered a 5 Big Kid, just for reference, and I couldn’t be happier with how they feel and fit!! When you unzip them there is plenty of room to put your feet in them or have someone help you do it.I’m SO PLEASED with and EXCITED about these shoes!!!! Thank you, Billy Footwear!!!!!

True to big boy/girl sizing. 11 year old triplet Grandson's like them
I ordered these shoes in the metallic blue, burgundy and gold for our identical triplet grandsons. They wear size 5.5 shoes right now, so purchased size 6 (they do not come in half-sizes). The shoes are a bit big, but that was expected. They are very adjustable in width. The shoes seem to be very consistent in sizing and compare to a men's/big boys size 6 - same as women's 8.I purchased the black/silver metallic ones for myself. I have had over 10 major surgeries on my feet, including total ankle replacements and now both ankles are fused. I wear them as house slippers because they hold my orthotics and are so easy to put on and take off. They do not have a lot of depth, but I have been pleasantly surprised that even with my thick orthotics in them, they stay on my feet and my heel does not go up and down. I wear a size 7 women's shoe which would be a size 5.5 in these; I purchased the size 6. With good over the counter inserts, I needed a bit of stuffing in the toes of the shoes but it is not needed with my custom orthotics. There is minimal support built into the shoes. My only problem is in remembering NOT to untie them, but use the zipper. Hard to change 70 year old habits.

Billy shoes, fits AFO’s perfect. Handicapped children will love.
Do you shoes come in assortment of colors and decorations that make them quite nice. These are the first pair of shoes that I have found for my handicap granddaughter that her AFO‘s will fit nicely in and they’re easy to get her foot in. The zippers make it so much easier and quick time to get her foot in and zipper up without it being a problem because of her AFO‘s. I’d recommend these for anyone that needs or uses AFO‘s . If you have children that are inpatient for lacing up their shoes these take 70% less time than a lace up shoe. If you have children that are impatient for lacing up their shoes these take 70% less time than a lace up shoe. The ones I picked are very cute as they come in the pink for girls and then they have the sparkles. The shoes also come in just colors so anyone can enjoy them. I will probably be always ordering only this brand of shoe for her in the future. I like the fact that they have low cut shoes and they also have high top shoes. The hightops are probably better for the AFO’s and I wasn’t thinking clearly as that’s what I should’ve ordered . But again the low tops I got work great. I will be trying to high tops on a future order just for a better ankle brace when she is not wearing her AFO’s. My grandson who is normal has requested I get him a pair as these are also available for a normal tennis shoes.

Disappointing Product
** update** After contacting Billy shoes directly, they promptly issued me a new pair! While I am disappointed with the original pair of shoes, I was very pleased with their prompt and courteous customer service. Here’s to hoping the next pair is better :)After only two weeks these shoes are falling apart! They are supposed to be designed for children who wear braces, but they are not. I took them to my daughters orthopedic, who said they were the right size and fit, but as you can see from this picture they are on able to withstand even the normal wear and tear of a preschooler. I was so excited to finally see your product was marketed for children who wear braces only to be disappointed, again I took them to my daughters orthopedic, who said they were the right size and fit, but as you can see from this picture they are on able to withstand 2 weeks of the normal wear and tear of a preschooler.
