The last pen you'll ever own
This pen is absolutely gorgeous to use, look at, and moves stunningly with the burgundy colored extra fine, and yes even though people complement me already on my calligraphy this pen actually improved it by a whole 'nother level.A quick note on Soft nibs. Soft nibs allow for much easier calligraphy as you don't need to lift the pen off at all and continue with your writing by simply pressing GENTLY on the nib to split the nibs mouth to increase ink flow. Now this nib is NOT like other soft nibs. It takes a bit more Oomph to bend it which is good as you don't want to be writing with a paintbrush but it sure can act like one if you want. The writing is smooth, fluid, and it has no problem catching up to me, but that also may be due in part to the ink I use which is Pelikan Turquoise. Also as mentioned back to the paintbrush analogy, this pen can actually create actual shades of color which is very nice. It does have a 'bit' of a scratchy sound when writing with it but that is normal for fountain pens on paper, and I personally enjoy the sound, but unlike other reviewers I have not experienced any 'squeaky' sounds and this could be my choice of ink. Feel like I'm Thomas Jefferson writing the Declaration of Independence. Pen has no bleeding problems could be my ink again, screw on cap so no ink spills, and very well crafted with a real nice 'heft' to it.For those of you considering the collection (more expensive one) over the resin as I did there are some things to consider. This is the superior pen to the resin as it has rhodium plating on the nib instead of full gold which makes this pen resistant to ink (ink doesn't stick to the nib when filling) so its easy to clean really easy, only the collection can do Extra Fine (which I love), and it also has a much larger ink capacity. Lastly of course this pen is not resin but has metal barrels with rhodium accents. I thought the extra features were worth the $240, but don't be mistaken this is a very solid pen and you won't need to buy another for a long time like 20-life years long time. People ask is it worth it? OH yes. There is NO pen at this price range this good. TRULY outstanding. If you're new to fountain pens go get a regular hard one for 20 bucks try another at 70 and then this. You'll see what I mean. Not to mention that this is a soft nib so in essence you are getting four fountain pens in one as you can change the thickness of the line from extra fine to broad simply by pressing on the nib which in turn could save you upwards of 350 dollars. Now there is a resin model of this make at 144 dollars and you basically get the great nib and if you're looking for a cheap solid fountain pen get that as others will have problem with calligraphy (design) unless you buy a soft nib which the collection and the resin model both are. The reason for that price is due to this wonderful Nib. You can't do better with any other brand unless you go to a Nib mister and fork cash over, so do yourself a favor and get the Namiki Falcon pen or the collection version.Only thing I can think of about this pen that's bad is that writing with the cap on makes it a bit heavy but I like it as it help put more pressure on the tip for the bending strokes. The ink reservoir is a bit tricky with the pump and I realized you have to just keep pressing the pump button maybe like 5+ times for the ink to really flowing into the tube. However these are extremely MINOR and do not warrant any star deductions. There is also an included 3 year warranty as long as you register your pen. That is very nice and rare as far as pens go. Pilot is showing you that they really support their product.

Comparison between fine resin and extra fine metal.
When comparing the extra fine, full metal pen to the resin fine pen, I wish I had bought this one first, and skipped the fine point resin pen. If you are considering between the two, here are some key differences:-The resin is much lighter. For me, I prefer a heavier, more substantial pen, but if you like a very light weight pen I definitely recommend the resin.-The metal holds much, much more ink. I could get, at best, 3-4 pages of notes with a refill using the resin fine point. With the extra fine point (which puts down less ink) and much larger reservoir, I can write journals.-The metal is much more sturdy. I'm always afraid I will crack the resin pen because I work in a blue collar environment. I'm never afraid of the metal pen. This is especially noticeable when posting the cap.-The extra fine is indeed extra fine. It is markedly finer than the fine tip and puts down much less ink in general.-Feathering is basically non-existant when paired with the Noodler's bulletproof black. I highly recommend that ink with the extra fine point if you need something permanent that allows for two sided writing and no feathering (even on cheap paper).-The notion of scratchiness should be qualified. Both the fine and extra fine will scratch when using the same pressure as you would when using a ballpoint pen. The extra fine exaggerates this quality. When using less pressure, I find that even the extra fine has minimal scratching.-I find both pens extremely pleasurable to write with, though my writing is much more controlled and detailed when using the extra fine. Line width variation is quite good for a sub 200 dollar fountain pen. I was limited in line widths when using the fine point comparatively.-The metal pen is a little longer and may fit your hand better or worse.I hope this is helpful to you while you shop.

Solid and a good writer
This pen is something different :-) I wasn't familiar with flex nibs until I tried this one... interesting semi flex nib. I like the flex writing, but writing without flex, the nib is a little bit too "springy", as if the pen takes control over my handwriting. Anyway, the more I use the pen, the more I like it. It requires some practice, I guess. I actually consider buying one more with medium nib (mine is fine, which is fine). I like the metal body of this pen. It makes the pen solid, and the weight is sufficient. The design is boring (except for the nib). I wish the fountain pen producers would design more feminine fountain pens in the future ;-)

Great pen
Purchased the bold/broad nib because of a red hot Amazon price. I was concerned that the line would be too wide, but it is really good when used with Noodler's anti-feathering inks and good paper. The line is well saturated, but the semi-flex nib provides enough line width variation that makes the letters easier to write and read (in my humble opinion). The nib is a smooth as butter. I was thinking of sending it in to be modified to a semi-flex oblique, but it is so good out of the box, I just don't see the need. Again the flex provides nice line variations and the ball point glides effortlessly across the paper. I was expecting a somewhat scratchy nib because of the flex; boy was I wrong.I have read that the flex nibs are popular with artists. I am not an artist, but this pen does feel somewhat 'brush-like' when setting down lines/strokes to paper. Finally, the metal body of the pen is a bit heavy. I like a heavier pen over a lighter one. It is well balanced even when posted. If you like a lighter pen, I suggest that you go for the plastic model which is very light. The overall style of the pen is somewhat plain. The chrome accents are just ok, but I prefer the gold accents of the plastic model. But the bottom line is that purchased this pen as a writing 'tool' and not a piece of jewelry. As a tool, it is simply outstanding.

I love this pen
I love this pen. I actually have two, this one and one with a medium nib. Both write very well and are what I take to work on most days. The fine nib is consistent with most Japanese fine nibs and compares to a European extra fine. It writes perfectly, even on the low grade paper that we use at the office. The pen comes with a CON 70 converter which has a decent capacity, but is not easy to clean. I prefer CON 50 converters, despite needing to ink up more often.

Un punto excelente
Las plumas Pilot son famosas por la comodidad de su punto. Este no es la excepción. El peso, el color, el metal hacen una experiencia muy bella para los que aman la escritura manual.
