Excellent for Smaller Fish in Close Quarters Fishing Areas
I use this while catching small trout (8-12") in Rocky Mountain streams and beaver ponds. I used to keep fish on a stringer attached to my waders and I'd drag the fish around behind me in the water, but that got to be tedious when moving from stream to pond or when fishing around heavy cover. The top opening is about 9 1/2" long by about 3" wide when sprung open. The bottom is about 12" long.Pros:- My Summer 2016 purchase didn't have an odor like some other reviewers noted.- The canvas is vinyl coated on the inside and there are 3 stainless steel rivet holes on the bottom for drainage.- I can soak the canvas in water to help with evaporative cooling.- For the size of trout I catch, I can hold them inside the pouch, dislodge the hook and Ikijime (Japanese method for quickly killing fish) them with little fear that they'll get loose.- Mesh panels on both sides help with evaporative cooling.- The snaps on the front are plastic, so no rusting there.- Very comfortable to wear like a side satchel. I keep it on my side or near my lower back and it stays out of the way while casting and maneuvering.- Cleanup is pretty easy. I just rinse it out in the sink and hang it in the garage.Cons:- The top opening has somewhat springy plastic ribs to hold the top closed. One can also pull them outward and they will snap in place to prop the top open. The plastic ribs seem a bit flimsy and I predict they'll be the first part to fail on the creel.- You're not going to get really big fish into it.

Arrived with a broken closure spring. Spring is plastic
the "spring" that keeps it closed is plastic. The spring was broken in half when I received the creel

Good value for the money
Could be a little wider for bigger fish

Cancer Warning
I bought a couple days ago and just now literally received both of the creels. I was reading the tag and noticed the warning about it containing cancerous materials. I see now on the details page it is listed there, but I wished I had noticed it before purchasing them. I would not have bought them. Can't even recycle them where we live either :(Otherwise it is as it states. Not a slight to the product except it containing those materials :/

It'll do its job for smaller fish.
The picture is a little deceiving because it looks like the snaps at the top would be the cover for the pocket, but that is not the case at all. the snaps work, but there is no pocket under them. the top simply opens without having a cover.

Good Product
Works nicely. Great fishing creel for trout for its price. I use it often and its foldable close mechanism is great for easy use. Its pockets are also useful and large enough for carrying tackle such as pliers, hooks and sinkers.

Disappointed with this appears in picture to be like original ...
Disappointed with this appears in picture to be like original trout bag with flap over snap lock but this has no purpose closes with plastic hinges on either side witch are just waiting to break also bag is non flexible so large trout will not fit. Disappointed due the fact it gave appearance of an old school trout bag witch it is far from. Live and learn my fellow trouters
