6” Stainless Steel Vacu-Stack Chimney Cap for Solid Pack Chimney Pipe

This thing just plain works. After going through all the work of buying and installing a wood burning stove, pipes, and chimney I ended up with some serious backdraft issues. My house is located up in the windy mountains on the side of a slope and is closely surrounded by several trees, all of which seemed to be contributing to this issue. Install was very simple and I could hardly believe it when I tested it out today in cold misty 40 mph winds and every bit of smoke was sucked right up the chimney. Great product that worked like a charm for me.

I bought this to resolve a downdraft and resultant smoke into our living space. (We live in a valley "holler" surrounded by tall trees.) Excellent workmanship on the product. High quality stainless steel, no sharp edges and easy installation. Most importantly, it has virtually eliminated all smoke in the house other than if stove door is wide open and fresh wood has not yet begun to burn. Totally satisfied with this purchase.

I believe the product works as described. I put it on black stove pipe rather than solid pack pipe and it fits well. I haven't had any smoke coming out the front of the stove since I installed the cap. It is a little heavy for my application and I had to brace the pipe a little stronger than I had it before. I thought it was a bit expensive but it is stainless steel.

The chimney cap that came with and installed with new wood stove was subpar at best. 1st rain with a bit of wind we had water inside the stove. Contacted store we bought from and were given the song and dance. Did own research and found replacement and works just fine, water issue solved

After CO in the house from a chimney down draft issue we gave this a shot. Totally reversed that draft to up the chimney, even under heavy winds. I dont even have to warm the chimney first before lighting. Easy install once I got the factory topper the installers had put on off.

I ordered a 6" Vacu Stack, but I received a 5 1/2 ". The obvious difference was in the flawed welding, which was uneven thus explaining the size difference. Furthermore, their customer support is horrible. I was never able to contact them because the line was always busy (perhaps too many returns). To add insult to injury, I HAD TO PAY to return this piece of junk. STAY VERY FAR AWAY from Chimney Supply Company from Lake Bluff, Illinois. Otherwise, you will regret it!!!

I've had one for about 10 years now. It's better than nothing but in high gusts you still get down draft, in my case when winds are out of the SW.

We had to have this professionally installed. It calls for silicone caulk as part of the installation process, which makes it permanently fixed. So if you are going to clean your chimney, it has to be done from inside your house.
