A total deal - great for beginning to intermediate players!
This is possibly the best deal on Magic cards around! I read several reviews and they all seemed to point to this purchase. My boyfriend and I recently got into Magic The Gathering as a great way to have fun, use our brains and not spend too much money going out all the time. I bought a 2011 Core deck (Reign of Vampirism) but wanted to play with many options, so I bought this as well. At my local comic book store, booster packs are $4, and a deck is about $12-13. This kit saves you TONS of money! $16 worth of boosters, enough cards for at least three very well-thought out decks (and plenty of spares to trade or rotate into your decks), plus the handy guide for building a deck and a card box (I constantly tote my cards on the subway and through winter city streets, so this box is a savior)! My deck came with enough white to have a cohesive all-white deck, a deck's worth of green (but I made the deck stronger by making it green/red), almost a full deck's worth of red, but was a little light on blue and black, which are my fave colors. No worries - the cards I got were good enough to make a kick-butt blue/black deck! In all, I was very pleased with the cards I got. My bf's roommate has been playing for more than a decade and he said that I have some really good decks now, which made me really happy with the value of this kit - and its deck-building advice! Since he's advanced, I can safely say that people through the intermediate level will find something of value here. Definitely cards you can win with! The deckbuilding foldout was handy, but I wish it had gone into more detail, especially about what types of cards to put into a control deck. However, I'm sure there are tons of articles I can find online about this, so no big deal.In all, this is a great deal! I won't have to buy cards for a very long time! I do think it's a good idea to have a core set to begin with so you can learn to play with a cohesively designed deck and get the feel for what kinds of cards work well together, but right after that, GET THIS!Holla to all my people rocking Magic!

Amazing price for what you get
This deck building tool is the best you can get for under 20 bucks (I ordered from gohastings at $15.49). Although I prefer the fat packs (see link at bottom), or the boxes with nine packs, a d20 and about 100 lands, they run at about 40 dollars apiece and have less cards in them. As I had already spent about 60 bucks on fat packs this month (Showcase Comics had a GREAT Valentines sale), I was left with a substantially less amount of disposable moolah. I saw this, and after reading the reviews, decided to buy it. I mentioned before how I spent about 60 dollars on fat packs, right? Well, this box might have surpassed them in the value of cards. I got a planeswalker, the newest, which is Sorin. He sells for more than the toolkit is worth. He is of the highest rarity, as are two other cards I obtained in this pack (Tree of Redemption and primordial hydra). Overall, I am pleased to the upmost degree with this toolkit, and I've just wasted your time (whoever is reading this) where you could have purchased this toolkit. Oh and shipping from gohastings was the same day, given the fact that I ordered it late the night before. It shipped within 24 hours, and got to my door two days before it was due to arrive, which means it was delivered from Arizona to my house in Pennsylvania in five days, including the weekend and President's day, which further narrows my case by two days, as post is not delivered on holidays or Sundays. So, instead of reading the last sentences of what seems to be a college essay, which is what I really should be working on seeing that it's due in a mere 7 hours, order the toolkit instead. I hope my review has persuaded you to purchase the item, as I think you will be happy with what you get. I've been playing since I was in grade school, around 2003, and this deck building toolkit has been one of the best things I've bought to better my game. Solid Set and a Good Deck Building Assistant
First off, I like to give extra props to the store for their fast service as my order came a couple of days ahead of the expected due date. When they say fast service, they were not kidding. As for the Deck Builder Kit, its a pretty handy expansion set. The set consists of four booster packs ( Conflux, Zendikar, Worldwake, and Rise of Eldrazi) and two wrapped card bundles of randomly mixed spell and land cards (125 Spells, 100 Land). The builder ideas and suggestions is mainly a fold-out,no different than what you get in Theme Decks or Fat Packs, but it did help me get a better understanding on how to play with the basic archetypes of Magic Decks and their suggestions on deck types. I managed to build both an Eldrazi Deck and a White/Blue Flyer Deck with other ideas on the horizon.Plus, how often does a booster pack give you a second Progenitus? That was a fun find as I opened the Conflux booster. Plus the assorted cards give you enough spells and land to help construct and complement your current supply of cards and decks.I would recommend this kit as a good expansion set and as an addditional card storage box, since the kit works as a deck case as well. Treat this like a fat pack, but as a good starting place for beginners, and a good card expansion set for mid-to advanced players.

Great buy..... addictive though; you won't stop at this pack!
It has taken me a while to get into the swing of the game as I found itdifficult to get to grips with the capabilities of all the cards, however I really enjoy it now.We bought this toolkit with the thought that we wouldn't need to buy anymore cards after that. I believethis is true, you don't need anymore cards however my other half has gotten really into it and has since bought several more booster packs! So be warned, the game may get addictive and therefore expensive!

Great kit
This is simply put, the best way of starting a collection.Very nice durable boxGood amount of basic land cardsPerfect variety of semi-random cards with enough duplicates to build a decent deck (I got three squadron hawks and three pacifism's and others)as well as four definite terramorphic expanse'sThe how to booklets are a bit redundant so i suggest you look at their how-to vids online for decent info.If you are using this to beef up a collection i would advise against it because they are only semi random cards and boosters would give you more variety.Summing up, if you are recently into magic this is an essential purchase.

Amazing
Haha this product is not a toy per say but its for an older audience. i was well pleased with the product. so it includes 285 cards in total, there are 100 land 20 of each colour, 125 semi-random cards meaning some are recurring and have a set amount in all kits. and 4 boosters with a total of 60 cards in each. alone boosters are around Β£3.50ish thats a total of 14 pounds for the boosters alone. very good value for money if you add it all up and think of it as getting 225 cards for the cost of the postage. so all in all amazing product.

A magic essential
I previously purchased a 2010 toolkit to start off my collection and i must say that the 2011 toolkit is an equally good way to get into Magic The Gathering. The semi-randomized cards provide a good core of common and uncommon cards. This selection is further enhanced by two 2011 boosters and two other boosters from the latest blocks. An excellent product, no question.(p.s. I realize that the one star educational rating looks bad but hey, its a tcg)

Very happy
Well I ordered this to play with my other half on an evening.Opening the cards we read the instructions and went to see if we had any rare cards. When we saw Jace the Mind Sculpter, thought we'd check to see if this was a good card.Imagine my response when I found this card sold for eighty pounds on eBay and card auction sites.Very happy with this purchase.
