Must buy
Basically this is a must buy if you own a Saturn... it goes in the cartridge slot behind the main player and allows you to save games. Now important to note the Sega Saturn is the only system of it's time to come with a battery inside the system to save games with... however said battery will only save a few games(and sometimes only one pending on the game) In addition the battery gives out after 3-5 years(give or take) so actually it helps to have a back up cart. Also, despite what some people say it's important to note that while some cartridges(Like the action replay one up for sale here at Amazon) allows you to play import games and save games... they..A. Don't allow you to play imports and save games at the same time.B. Don't work with all import games.C. Have a history of causing way more problems and acting up a lot more than the cartridge from Sega.In the end this is the sure deal to back up and save your games.

Well-functioning back-up
This thing works quite well. Aside from the occasional hiccup (God help you if you so much as nudge it; it has to entirely removed and re-inserted--with the required waiting time--before it works again). But do not let that fool you. This thing has a buttload of memory and is stable as Hell, memory-wise. When it arrived, it still had data from its previous owner. The default Saturn memory could only contain enough memory for 1 Dragon Force file, yet I stuck 4 on there and this thing still has plenty of room. Unless you want to shell out money (and time) replacing the Saturn Memory's batteries (and re-doing lost content) I highly advise Saturn owners to shell out the money for this OFFICIAL (and not that crappy 3rd part back-up) memory cartridge.

Official Sega memory carts is the way to go!
It works great! Can store tons of saves and you don't need to worry about the Saturn battery dying out on you and losing progress. Many games allow to save directly to the memory cart too.

Neccessary
The thing about the Saturn is that it has built in battery powered memory. The problem of that of course , is that when the battery dies all the game saves and scores are gone. The solution is this memory cart. There's more memory than you;ll ever need and it's very reliable. The saturn states that it has 500 blocks. Small games are no problem until there's big racing game files like Sega Rally or Daytona USA. The memory cart has 8000 blocks of memory to work with and that's plenty for everything. Even collectors will have space for all those games.

Great Accessory
Of all the memory storage accessories in the mid 90's, this is perhaps the coolest. Rather than being a small memory card with 15 or so blocks of memory, this behemonth sports over 7000 blocks of memory, meaning you will probably only need 1 for your library of Saturn titles. It's fun to use, easy to operate, well designed and well-built, and solid. Heavy for its size, which belies good workmanship.Overall awesome accessory that is a must for any SEGA Saturn enthusiast.

You can save without fear now!
This is a MUST if you play RPGs in the Sega Saturn. The internal Sega Saturn memory is battery dependent, so once the battery dies, you will LOSE all of your saves. This Backup Cartridge solves that, and provides huge amounts of space. Each game will now display the option to save to INTERNAL MEMORY or to BACKUP. The second one will guarantee your saves for years and years :)
