Native UnionNative Union Monocle - MONO-BLK-DIA-MT - Black Diamond

I've had my Monocle for about a week now and up until this evening it was perfect. My only complaint being that the power cord was amazingly short (i mean that even the proverbial short straw is longer than this thing, but i could deal with that). So what happened to an otherwise perfect item? iOS 8. I updated my iPhone and the multi-function button that pauses/fast forward/activates Siri ceased to work. So now if i want any of those convenient functions I must inconveniently pull my phone out of whatever pocket I have it hiding in. I complained a few days after I got the Monocle to the people at Native Union about the cord. They never got back to me. I will complain about the button too although I don't believe that this is their fault. I'm going to assume that since the Monocle's been out longer than iOS8 that there is no way Native Union could've anticipated this. I'm certain that this product will work correctly with other phones/devices. I will continue to use it with my iPhone with the memory of my happy week with it and hope that an update to either the Monocle or the iOS will resolve my issue. If the issue is resolved I will update my review. Happy Listening!Update 2/23/15I've been meaning to update this entry for a while now, Sorry.Native Union did get back to me, but didn't understand the nature of my complaint and I never followed up. As the problem there was glitches in iOS8 and had nothing to to with them, it's ok. I've found that I don't really use the button any way as most of the time it is too far away from me. I've also discovered that I can use my Kindle cord to power my Monocle, which is great since I keep forgetting and leaving it on and draining the battery.I am actually happy with my purchase. It works as I need it to. I bought it to use in my car to listen to music off my phone when driving since my radio doesn't work right and I've no way to connect my phone to it anyway. Any where I go wants at least $500 to put in a new radio. This was only $40 and I can use it anywhere and still take calls with it. It has great sound and I use it even in the house with my iPad as well.I also wear hearing aids and I can use this to take calls without having to take my aids out or take my phone off of the speaker. Makes my life easier.

i bought this item with the hopes that it would serve multiple functions as described in the product description. however once I received it I realized it is not compatible with my iPhone 6. when I plug it in it immediately starts to play music from my iTunes. this can be paused but after a short period it starts up again, on its own. My attempts to contact the manufacturer to resolve the issue were fruitless. must be the worst customer service dept. on the planet. I still use it occasionally when I am right next to it to control its quirks but it does not do the things That I purchased it fo. since it works fine with my granddaughters iPhone 5, I know this is not defective, just not compatible with my 6. due to the poor customer issues I will not be buying from this company again.

Nice speaker and nice ideas but that's it! The speaker sounds too small and not clear, bad sound! And yet the price at the beginning is very expensive.

This little speaker has a great aesthetic design but the sound quality and user-friendliness is lacking.

Bought this as a gift for my husband and he really liked it. It has good sound quality and we like that we can tether several together.

Works well. Handy to keep around...Particularly if you use your phone sporadically as to not want to leave your bluetooth powered on for hours. Sounds fine, quick and easy to use. I was concerned it would accidentally power on in my bag but that has not been a problem, the rotary switch doesn't accidentally engage when you don't want it to. I really like the style and how easy it is to use.

This speaker is ideal for anyone travelling and wants to play music from their ipod or phone, the cushion around the speaker offers good protection, it has a good volume range and sound quality. Highly recommended.

I am unable to get it to work nd it drops its charge in less than a day even though it isn't being used. I am hard of hearing and very disappointed with this gadget

The quality of this speaker was excellent but would only work when plugged into the mains otherwise the volume didn't work. I returned item as assumed it to be faulty

Excellent additional speaker / conf call unit for the office or your travels. Far more powerful than you might expect with a surprisingly tight bass and crisp sound. It isn't hifi - but it will knock the spots off your in device speakers. Moreover it maintains a valuable and consistent Native Union trait - it looks so much more pleasing to the eye than any alternative.
