Fun read
This series is a fun read and I'm looking forward to book 5. The only problems with the books are all the spelling and grammatical errors. For instance the wedding reception, it was written that the tables were covered in ivory clothes. However should have been cloths.

Ok novel, but annoying protagonist
This book is a pleasant enough read and the natural attributes and eccentricities of the small town setting are enjoyable. However, the protagonist wasn't easy to like. She seems lazy, self absorbed and spineless. All she seems to do is drink coffee and eat muffins at coffee shops, gossip with friends and acquaintances, and dabble in one unfinished project after another. She doesn't seem to have any core or center or know who she is. She caves in to everyone's demands, doesn't defend herself when falsely accused, and though she's a mom of a grown son and teenagers married to a man she claims to love, she keeps finding ways to insert her nose into the life of another man who flirts with her and who she claims not to want. The writing style is also sometimes confusing. There are a lot of characters and a lot of names, so sometimes it's hard to keep track of who the narrator is talking about since not much context is given. The author's choice of words and/or phrasing also sometimes lead to confusion, is only clarified on re-reading or reading onwards.

I’m so happy to be back in Chancey!!!
Ms. Shostak has done it again. It’s like I have been picked up from my humdrum life and dropped in the middle of downtown Chancey, Georgia to catch up with all the goings on: picnics, parties, schemes and family fussin’. Truly, the characters in Chancey have come to life for me and feel like family. I become so immersed that when I look up from reading I am surprised to find that it is actually Fall right now, and not late Spring/early Summer like it is in the book. This is my absolute favorite Southern fiction series. I hope there are many many more Chancey books to come!

Good story, but too many problems with the book
I have read the preceding books in this series and enjoyed them so I was very happy to start reading this one. Unfortunately I hadn't gotten very far when I encountered blank pages. This went on throughout the book. At times it just skipped ahead a page or two, but others it seemed to skip many pages and I had to figure out where and who the person was who was speaking. It seemed there were more misspelled or misused words than the others. The story would have been much better if the book was complete.

A Great Escape from COVID-19 Quarantine
I found the Chancey series during my COVID-19 Shelter in place quarantine and my days of isolation flew by! I first read Chancey Jobs because it was offered as a Kindle freebie one day. While I thoroughly enjoyed the small town setting and the characters, I felt like I was missing their backstory. Upon further investigation, I discovered the whole Chancey series and fell in love with Chancey, Georgia. Do yourself a favor and start with book 1, Next Stop Chancey, and read through the series in order. Carolina, the main character, has a less than perfect marriage and less than perfect children, and that makes her easy to identify with. The other inhabitants of small-town Chancey were quirky, charming, and quite believable.I was glad the series was available on Kindle, because I was immediately ready to start the next book after I finished each one. There were small editing and formatting errors, but they were easy to overlook because the whole series was delightful. I’ve recommended this series to all my friends.

Like a vacation to go home
Small towns... when you grow up in one, all you want to do is get out of it. Then, you end up moving back to that small town, or to another. There you settle down and there you raise your family. The humor of Carolina keeps me reading. I can smell the fresh-cut grass. My favorite smell in the world. Somehow I missed the second book of this series so I am going back. Thanks to the author. It feels like a trip to a familiar and simple home town when I was just a kid and everything was simple and there was such still such familiarity to it.

Sorry, not my cup of tea
I gave it 3 stars because the writing was OK and I didn't notice any grammatical errors. However, that was being generous. It's fine if you want a couple hundred pages of fluff, some quirky characters and a cutesy small-town tale. But I just finished an 1,100 page book by Ken Follett that knocked my socks off, and Chancey Jobs was just a little too fluffy and cutesy for me. I read 20% of it and the last few pages, but that was the best I could do. Sorry.

Thanks. A book about real people.
As I read this book I laughed and became slightly uncomfortable. Some of the characters are just like in my family and it was fun to stand aside and read about them without being in the whirlwind. For the same reason I felt slightly uncomfortable that my family could be so atrocious. This book is a great read for anyone wishing to escape their reality for a brief while. Highly recommended.

Well worth reading
This was a worthy continuation of the previous three books. They all really set the scene of small town America in the south. Maybe a bit too sweet and sugary at times but as an on going saga of several families and small town life it makes for good reading. I look forward to the next instalment.
