Years and Years

Mesmerising.
Wow, just wow. Set mostly in the 2020s through the eyes of one Manchester family in a post-Brexit. 2nd term Trump, nuclear bomb in the South China Sea dystopia. The scenarios are mostly depressing. But they work because they are so recognisable from 2019. The child who wants to become transhuman with a phone implant in her hand. The constant skyping. The rise of the authoritarian state. But we're still human. We like live music. We still drink. And we still have sex. The gay story line here being particularly brilliant for its mix of passion and Home Office brutality.A near future to shudder at. But there again we're almost there anyway.

A chilling glimpse into a possible near future
Take a great script-writer, add in some outstanding British actors and some interesting tendencies from the current political climate, and you get... "YEARS AND YEARS". One of the best and most thought-provoking series I have seen in along time. The only downside is this: Why do we get a DVD, when a Blu-ray would make it even more interesting? Here's hoping we get a delayed release on Blu-ray.

The future today
An excellent exploration of life in the UK after Brexit or after what ever might happen with a Johnson type government made composed of right wing neo Fascists; Acted out through the crises of a middle class family as it tries to adapt to the new world order. Highly relevant to the world we in the UK are experiencing of lies fake news misuse of media and gross manipulation. That is my take on the series others may see it differently NO propaganda just showing the world what is happening and with possibel outcomes?

2019 and Beyond.
Shocking-scary-a must see! Not the easiest thing to watch but the cast acted magnificently and I cannot say I loved it but wonder if this is what is in store for us.The writing was excellent and although I had seen the whole series on the BBC I had to get it for my collection.

Strange twists of scenario
Starts like a variation on "Downton Abbey" (only a bit more subtle) and ends as something akin to "The man in the High castle" (only a bit less terrifying).

A Brilliant Work from Russell T Davis
Quite simply everybody should be made to watch this six-part series. Superb writing with marvellous ideas of what the future could hold, excellent performances by all involved and a gripping story-line that twists and turns make for compelling viewing. Russell Tovey, Rory Kinnear and Anne Reid at their finest...........very, very watchable.

Like an extended Black Mirror episode - in a good way
(Mostly) believable speculative fiction looking at what could happen in the next two decades in the UK. A nice cross-section of characters with a well-balanced mix of dramatic events and everyday life. The end is a bit too tidy but that's excusable in TV drama.
