Rocky Road: A Culinary Mystery (Culinary Mysteries)

Better than Baked Alaska
Great Job! This story is filled with twists and turns right through the penultimate chapter. Sadie is back in top form as she tries to remain uninvolved but is ultimately pulled into the whirlpool caused by her confidence in her own talents, a situation whose known facts just don't add up, and her inner instinct that she must do something to ensure the truth is revealed. Loved the final twist! Loved some of the recipes as well [two favorites for our family dinners around here are Funeral Potatoes and Strawberry Pretzel Pie] even though they threaten a waist line that is always a volunteer for expansion.

Delicious Murder and Fraud Case!
Sadie Hofmiller, having just survived a harrowing adventure in "Baked Alaska" and finding herself stunningly engaged to be married at the young age of fifty-eight, is more than ready for a girl's weekend with Caro. her friend, in St. George, Utah. Unknown to Sadie, Caro has committed her talents as a Private Investigator, to her cousin and friend, Tess. Now, a disclaimer here...I do not like this character. I hope not to run into her again in this series. Just my thoughts.Sadie feels sorry for the loved ones of one disappeared Oncologist and appreciates all he has done for the community of Breast Cancer, but, she is tired and just wants to dream of her pending nuptials in five weeks. It was supposed to be 'girl time.'Well Tess sees it differently. She has committed Sadie and Caro to helping her Ward (Mormon Community) into setting up a memorial luncheon for the missing doctor. The thing is Tess and Caro have located a photograph of the area that the good doctor was supposed to have left his vehicle at...but there is a problem with the dates. The car appeared after the disappearance...???Sadie wants the police involved. The other two want to investigate on their own.Well, Sadie gets reeled in, but not the way you would think. This becomes the first in several interesting twists in this book that had felt 'predictable.' It is not predictable at all.Ms. Kilpack's series is a culinary mystery one. Each book is jammed with delicious recipes throughout the pages, right as she eats them in the prose. Yummy! I and my husband are planning on eating 'Café Rio- Barbacola Pork' this week. It sounds divine and is on page 225. There is a convenient recipe index on the front page. This novel is the tenth in a series of twelve. It was a wee bit more preachy than the prior ones but not off-putting in the least. I do suggest reading them in order as the character does evolve. And, Yes, there is a luscious recipe for Rocky Road Fudge... Enjoy!

Rocky Road
This was an interesting book for me because the author has set the stage for it in the St. George area where I live. I knowall the places she wrote about and could imagine everything well that went on.

Great read and clean too!
I enjoy a good book with twists and turns. I especially like the fact that there is no objectionable language or any sexual situations depicted to detract from the story. Thank you Josi for proving that mystery can be written without profanity! I have tried several of the recipes included in the story and have really liked them all.

Fan of Josi
I am a loyal fan of Josi Kilpack. I enjoy this series of her books with their light mystery and intrigue with just a touch of romance. The recipes that are included are fun and the ones I have actually tried have been good. I would recommend her books to anyone who likes to read for pure entertainment.

great book
I have read all the other books in the series and this one is my favorite. Great story and it hold your attention all the way through. Nice little twist at the end--it was fun to try to guess what was going on as everything unfolded.
