ILLUMINARÉ Mattifying Mineral Foundation

I am always on the search for a "perfect" foundation that is natural looking. I have tried mineral makeup like Bare Escentuals and I think Illuminare is a superior product - with the caveat that everyone's skin is different. I have relatively oily skin but need coverage of blotchiness and shine. I still have to blot with oil absorbing sheets throughout the day (as with any makeup if you are really oily) but my skin feels lighter, cleaner, and less clogged with this product. FYI, I'm in my late 20's and have relatively large pores and some fine lines. It is hard to find a makeup that doesn't accentuate pores and feel heavy/oily/cakey. This is one of the few. It seems to minimize pores and reduce shine for a bit, and it stays on ALL DAY. And with SPF, how could you ask for more? It is expensive but this stuff lasts forever. You only need a tiny amount, and that is the key to applying it properly. I just use my fingers to apply in the middle part of my face and it blends very well. If you have very dry skin, this is not the one for you (but they have a moisturizing formula as well). The coverage is great if you want a lot, but you can make it very light and natural as well. I rarely give positive reviews on products but this one has grown on me. If you have been less than thrilled with other mineral makeup because of issues like accentuating shine and pores, I suggest this instead...and it is easier because you don't have to put on a primer and mineral veil.

I've been using this for at least 10 years. I have yet to find a foundation that applies as matte & light and has pretty good coverage, too. Even though it's rather costly, and I've tried many others, but always return to this.

I have oily skin and have only found that this and dermablend give me the coverage I want without making my skin break out. I love the matte finish which seems to hold up better than demanblend so this product is a win!

I was really expecting a lot more from this product for the cost. It does have very good coverage and lasts quite a long time (not quite all day though) but if you have any areas where skin is a little dry this make-up will really highlight those areas and make it feel drier.

Ad I've gotten older, my skin has developed a ridiculous level of sensitivity to products. I switched to mineral makup about 10 years ago, starting with a popular powder mineral makeup.It worked just fine, but it was messy and it always gave my skin a bit of a shiny look that I didn't care for...mostly in photographs. But, the bottom line was, it didn't travel well and if something is outrageously inconvenient, (i.e., it requires ironing, special cleaning products, or excessive cleanup or care) it just doesn't last long in my world.I've used all the variations of formula in this line. I generally use the moisturing formula in the winter and this matte formula in the summer. I live in the deep South, where the heat and humidity can melt the paint off steel girders. You can imagine what it does to makeup. This has good staying power - about the best I've found for my particular circumstances.I mix this about 1/3 to 2/3s with my favorite BB cream, dot it across my face and then blend it by swirling a soft foundation brush. The combination of the two gives me ample coverage without looking made up, hides the handful of complexion issues that age has brought on, and doesn't trigger any adverse reactions. It gives my skin a soft and natural airbrushed effect. The matte foundation can accentuate tiny undereye lines, so I generally shy away from using it there and just rely on the BB cream.I usually top it with a translucent powder and a fixing spray (or just rosewater and glycerin) for days or evenings when I need serious staying power.I've purchased this from numerous merchants and directly from the Illuminare website over the years. This merchant was fine, although the package arrived looking a little shopworn. Next time, I'll probably go back to buying straight from Illuminare.

I’ve used this for years and find it to provide a light yet full coverage. Easy to apply (I use a makeup brush or my fingers) and looks natural. A little dab goes a long way.

Love this product, have been using it for years! Stays put, looks natural, good for your skin, SPF protection, and great coverage ! I should note I use it more as a concealer than foundation. If you need more of a foundation, their moisturizing one is better.

I have rosacea and I found out this makeup works really well covering up some of the redness. I've been using this particular one for a couple of years now and I really like it.

The best foundation ever. I have a mature oily skin prone to outbreaks, after searching and reading lots of reviews about which cruelty free foundation was best for my skin I decided I would give this one a go. Not disappointed at all, the only problem was where to get it from, mail order only, the British company selling it had sold out. It is a US brand so I was a bit worried about sending for it. Luckily I found it on Amazon and delivery was a quick 7 days. Quicker than some posted in this country. I applied it with the special pad it recommended but you can use fingers, brush etc, its a small tube but you only need a pea size amount so there is no wastage. The colour did seem a bit pale at first but blended into my skin perfectly, and the best thing is it lasted all day with only a slight shiny look towards the end of the day. I definitley will be buying this foundation again.

This is a nice foundation with the added protection against the sun. It's a nice colour and looks good on but I don't think it's worth the money. I wouldn't buy again
