Some things to consider when buying a hard hat // forestry application
Summary: I have worked in industrial areas since 2008, so I have had quite some time wearing hard hats. I have also used a couple of chainsaw/forestry specific ones, so I'll include those for comparison as well. I also ordered the mesh face shield and carrier listed below to use with this Ergodyne. TR specializes in forestry related equipment.Observations: One thing you can choose between is class C (vented) and class E (non-vented); most of mine have been non-vented, but for this one I ordered a vented one to see if it makes a difference with cooling?Recommendations: One benefit/feature of the 3M offering is a UV exposure sticker, which this Ergodyne doesn't have; it essentially indicates how much UV exposure from the sun your hard hat has absorbed, and if it is time to change (plastic will become brittle and possibly ineffective with significant sun exposure.Pros: TR Industries is a PPE (personal protective equipment) specialty manufacturer; comfortable suspension system; the TR face shields are some what universal fit, and works well with the Pyramex adapter.Cons: None for now.Conclusion: At $10 for the Pyramax adapter, and $20 for the 2-pack of face shields, rating both 5-stars. Also rated the Ergodyne hard hat 5-stars. Keeps debris out of you collar
I have been cutting down cedar trees lately. I have to trim the limbs overhead before I can safely cut them down and these do a good job of keeping debris from falling down the back of my collar. I am using these on a different brand of helmet which still has the little tabs for snapping on the neck shade, but I wish they held a little better.

Works great at keeping the sun and chips off the back of your neck!
Great addition to my personal protective equipment. Only drawback is it will make your set up a little warmer.

Wish I found sooner
Comfortable enough to wear all day at half the price of name brand ones! I wish I’d found this a year ago. I’m actually glad I don’t have to choose between safety and overpaying for a name brand one anymore. Great quality. I recommend buying the shade net- saves your neck from the sun.

udate keeps falling off, going to have to tape it on
fits but keeps falling off. brand new. wasnt sure if it would fit my new helmet but it did. havent use it yet.will be nice to keep crap out of the back of my shirt. chainsawing or weedeating, polesawing. and yes i put the polesaw high over my head. thats what the helmet is for if i get hit in the head.petzl helmet fits the best.way better than oregon pro, stihl half mask

As good as the original shields - no complaints!
These replacement visor shields are original an work just the same way. No fitment issue. Clarity is good (once you remwmber to remove the protective film on both side. No complaints

Fits and replaces worn out screen shield.
Helmet is still good but the screen just doesn't last. Fortunately these replacement screens are just the ticket.Can anyone explain how a screen faceshield is comfortable? It works great. It's not comfortable.
