Tanganyika Buffer is a 250 g formula designed to raise and stabilize pH levels between 9.0 and 9.4 while increasing carbonate hardness (KH) without affecting general hardness (GH), ensuring an optimal aquatic environment for sensitive species.

Useful to mix with other PH buffers
I have super soft and acidic water so this helps increase PH without a huge amount of kh. Useful to mix with other buffers.

Works great
Keeps the pH in my Tanganyika cichlid tanks high. Make sure to use a de-chlorinator with this when making anything other than a small water change.

Maintains the pH of a tank
Using this to augment the sand for Tanganyika shellies. Seems to work well, keeping the pH at ~7.5-8. If one is adding the buffer to an established tank with fish, I would start gradually, with small doses at first [as we lost a fish when dumping the entire dose in at once].

I add back the recommended ratio of Tanganyika Buffer to the amount of water ...
Tanganyika Buffer is one of the elements added to my water changes that helps stimulate my African Cichlids;it made them more vibrant. I always add back the recommended ratio of Tanganyika Buffer to the amount of water change. They look Great and Healthy. Seachem products is good stuff.

I like this better than Baking Soda because it has less ...
I use this in my planted tanks to supplement minerals for my snails and shrimp. I'm running CO2 and this raises the kH for a buffering effect. I only use it with water changes so the change is gradual. I like this better than Baking Soda because it has less sodium.

Works as advertized
I have a 125 gallon Neolamprologus Brichardi species tank, from Lake Tanganyika. I change out half the water every week and put in 4 tablespoons of the buffer. The pH doesn't get higher than in the mid 7's, but the fish must like the water, since they breed frequently.
