One of my favorite stories. Read dozens of times. Finally replacing my physical book with the e-version.
This book is one of my most favorite Nora Roberts' books.I have the physical book copy of this novel and years and years of reading and re-reading have curled the pages, cracked the spine, warped the cover and yet the story still sucks me in every time.I am in process of replacing the majority of my physical books with e-books (I sure wish they'd give us credit or something so you don't have to buy the same book twice at full price, grrr)Anyways one of the first books to be replaced with an e version is this one, Dance Upon the Air.As part of a trilogy it is a beautiful first part...but in truth more often than not I read it as a stand alone. It's not that the plot is so complicated or intense or anything...it's just that what Nora does best, she does in this book. She writes a world that you can drink in lie water. A few pages in you see the world, not the words.I can't tell you how many times I stepped off the ferry and wandered the high street with the main character. There have been times I'd leave this book (the physical copy) in a convenient place and just pop it open and read and re-read my favorite scenes. The description of the cafe and all the baked goods and the kitchen....just perfect. There's something about the way Nora writes, when she's "on" she is soooo on. The world is larger and richer than the few words on the page.Considering how she likes to weave a little magic in to a lot of her books, this one included, perhaps these novels where she's "on" are her own form of magic, the few simple words together on the page creating something together much grander than it really ought to be...Anyways, this book is my go to feel good story. The drama is light, not too intense.I don't mind intense but when life gets hectic or crazy or down right crappy it's nice to pick up a story that you can slide in to on any page and visit that world.I am from the East Coast myself originally so perhaps the descriptions of the little village on an island, the trees and water and rocks and salty air just strike a particular chord with me.I've said before, Nora could write an entire book or books on the day to day mundane goings on in the little cafe book shop and I'd read it.Sometimes the things she writes about, the most simple are the most effective...As I said it's part of a trilogy so you sort of have to read all 3 to feel complete. But this is my favorite of the 3. I'll attach photos of the physical copy so you can see how well loved it is.Not all of Nora's books are hits for me...in recent years some of them are almost misses. I remarked in another review that I wasn't sure if it was her or me who has changed. Thus far this story hasn't changed for me, it's familiar and comforting like your favorite blanket :)I didn't and won't go into plot details, if you like small island life, books and cafe offerings. A bit of mystery a lot of magic and a sweet touch of romance (actual romance!) then you'll like this.I am thrilled to have the e-book version finally. There is something supremely comforting at knowing I have a ton of Nora stories in one little device that I can carry every where. :)Oh and one other thought while it's on my mind. I know firt hand how slightly painful it can be to part with physical books. But nostalgia and cost of e-books etc aside, I can say from experience that the physical book is not what you love. It's the story. And a good story, like this one, sucks you in. You'll forget within moments WHAT you're reading on, or even what you're reading. A good story is alive and not bound to paper.I started reading my new ebook version of Dance Upon the Air and on my tablet and was succcccked right in, as always. :)

An exceptional read!
Three Sisters Island would be a sanctuary to Nell Channing โ she could feel it as she arrived by ferry. She would find a job, somewhere to live and stay safe. If he came after her again, she would run. The bookstore-cafรฉ where Nell found a job as cook and waitress was owned and run by Mia, a person she immediately knew she could trust. Lulu would need to be won over, but Nell was prepared for that.As Nell learned the history of the island โ the troubles that occurred in 1692, when witches inhabited the land, she felt an affinity. Sheriff Zack Todd and his sister Ripley also made her feel safe. And her little yellow cottage was perfect. She was happy. But would it last? Would she have the strength, the power, to stop her past overwhelming her again?Dance Upon the Air is the first in the Three Sisters Island trilogy by Nora Roberts and I loved it. Air, Earth and Fire โ the three sisters from 1692 were named for them. Nell was an exceptional character, as was Mia. Iโm really looking forward to the second in the series and recommend this one highly.

Lovely Intertwining of Romance, Friendship, and Magic
I haven't read Nora Roberts in many years. I once tried to read her In Death series but I just couldn't get into those books. When a friend suggested Roberts' Three Sisters island trilogy, I decided to give the first book a try since I've been interested in finding single titles or trilogies to read. I was immediately drawn in form the first chapter of Dance Upon The Air, this first book in the trilogy is a wonderful and magical set up for the entire trilogy. The setting for the story is in the idyllic town of Three Sisters Island. Nell Channing, who faked her own death to escape an abusive husband, arrives in town looking to start a new life and gets a job working in the bookstore. Nell's new boss is the captivating Mia Devlin, who takes the shy Nell under her wing and treats her like a sister. Soon Nell catches the eye of the handsome town sheriff, Zack Todd.I enjoyed everything about this book. The romance between Nell and Zack is sweet and true. Nell is an inspiring young woman who courageously took control of her own life after a bad situation. Zack is the perfect blend of alpha-beta male who is good-natured and patient but also tough as steel in his protection and love of Nell.Romance is not usually at the top of my list to read but when I do feel like reading it, I don't want a lot of angst and gnashing of teeth in my romance story. I want a storyline that is inspiring, full of wonderful, likable characters, and believable settings. This trilogy meets all my requirements and I would highly recommend Three Sisters Island.

If you haven't read Nora Roberts, this is a good one to start on. A mix of romance, survival and a touch of magic .

Probably my fourth re-read!
Nora Roberts is a long time favorite of mine, but the Three Sisters Island trilogy is the best of the best. Small town feel, strong characters, and magic. What could be better?

A great read
I couldn't put this book down. A well written story about an abused woman making a new way, living in fear, finding her fate, and her new soul mate.

A fan was born.....
This was the first Nora Roberts book that I read and I loved it. I was in a book club at the time and NR was cited as outselling Danielle Steel and I could see why -her characters are much more interesting. I then had to get the remaining 2 books in the series as they came out. I have been a Nora Roberts fan since then and have read as many of her books that I could get my hands on. I eventually started reading the JD Robb books and also enjoy them. I have liked all of her books, although some more than others. I have a lot of her books on my Kindle and so can enjoy them without having to wade through stacks of books find them. I like the way that NR creates her trilogies, etc and examines each character and their part in the overall storyline. I await the new ones as they come out, although I often return to 'Dance Upon The Air' for a well-loved re-read.

Nice story
Thought it was a nice read, would of liked abit more about the three sisters and the witchcraft side of things less about sherrif tod. Wasnt keen on his character he read like a mills and boon love interest, not backing off when she asked. Forcing his way into her house and life i would of loved it if she had found her courage by herself then at the end decided if she wanted a relationship

The perfect romantic read
Oh, I love this series! Each one in the trilogy was completely absorbing. There were moments when I wished the threat was a bit more dramatic, but that's a small quibble. I feel like I've lived on the island, and know all the characters. Writing this review a few weeks later, I can still picture Nell in her little house in the woods. Thoroughly enjoyable, really nicely written, great characters that become like friends. For anyone new to Nora Roberts, each book in the trilogy focuses on one couple, but also sets up the romances to follow in the next two books.
