Positive Discipline for Childcare Providers: A Practical and Effective Plan for Every Preschool and Daycare Program

I was looking for a book that would help me come up with ideas for daycare. I was tired of time-out and I hated the fact that I followed the same routine day after day. This book allowed me to shake it up a little. Allowed me to get a better insight of what daycare should be about and reminded me how important these little ones are. Highly recommended for people starting up daycares!

This principles can easily be applied.

Somehow I was expecting more substance but found this book to be very general and superficial. I'm still interested in this approach but have gained more insight and information online from articles of this title or under the term, "Positive Guidance."

This book is a must read for teachers everywhere. It changed the way I view children with discipline issues and has made my experiences with those children more manageable. I continue to refer to this book and have recommended it to many teachers along the way. The author has also written books for caregivers and parents. If you are a person who is working with or living with a young child that needs discipline more often than not or a child that is pushing your buttons to the point of frustration, READ THIS BOOK. If you are looking at this review right now it means that you are already involved with a young child with challenging behaviors so BUY THIS BOOK and read it and implement the strategies that Nelsen suggests. I love all the books in this topic area of Positive Discipline

I was completely unimpressed by this book. It offered one main idea throughout, and it could have been much shorter and still gotten that message across. I paid money that I can't afford to spare in hopes for ideas that I hadn't already tried, and this book fell short, especially for the price. Fortunately it only took a few hours of my time to read, and I did come away with one or two new ideas. I will say that the last chapter was EXCELLENT. It was easy to read, had precise ideas on what to try for specific scenarios and issues. I loved that it was alphabetized, and I look forward to using it as a resource. I wouldn't recommend reading this book or buying it.

Great book with a lot of helpful information. Purchased a copy for all the teachers at my school.

Well written and worth every dime-- if not more!!

I found a lot nice ideas. Some of them really works with my dayhome nevertheless I had a LOT of problems with my licensing. I made a box with soft pillows, toys, books etc and a license lady did non like it. I was very upset about it :(
