Not what I expected, but what I really needed
This book was not at all what I expected, but it ended up being exactly what I needed.I was expecting a book that gives visual examples of how artificial intelligence systems work or are built because I wanted to learn to build them myself. But in contrast, the book gives a very digestible survey of AI history, and more importantly the philosophical questions, debates, and goals that AI has struggled with for decades. At first I thought the illustrations were rather cheesy, but as I read I found them extremely helpful in quickly assimilating the information. Simple things like seeing the same drawing of a person when they are referred to in the text, cements the name with a physical appearance easing the burden of understanding who said what, when, and how it relates to the history of AI.This is actually what I needed, because after learning about the history of AI, what it has tried to do (and failed) and where it is now headed, I realize the AI systems I was hoping to build are not the AI systems I should be learning about today. The book is packed full of facts, terminology, and references that I'll be using again and again as I continue to learn about AI. I learned far more from this book than I expected, including some psychological concepts about how humans perceive and process information. I will certainly be re-reading this book again soon, to pick up the parts that didn't make it into my brain's long-term memory.I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about AI.

An informative introduction to AI
I always like these Introducing books. The take complex, forbidding subjects and make them seem a little friendlier.

Graphic glitches on the kindle app
Worthwhile overview of AI. History is good but the book is already outdated. An update would be helpful. 3 stars because of frustrating disappearing pictures that had actual content.

MUST READ!
Wonderful intro! Please make this a series! I plan on rereading over and over again just to capture the evolution of “AI” across disciplines

A look at A I
I think this book is very good and informative. It takes a not to in depth look into artificial intelligence . It talks about the origin of A I and robotics how it started. Does not go into the present A I information but it is still a nice read

I like these series of book and how they approach the subject history and outline the topics in historical time.

Decent basic introduction
The book is nice introductory overview of AI. It is an easy read. Its might be a bit too basic though and its structure makes it hard to revisit a certain subtopic as it seems to be designed to flow from beginning to end and that is the best way to read it.

Written by artificial intelligence
First time reading a Graphic Guide. Didn't care for it. On a Kindle the graphics were impossible to read unless you enlarge each one and scroll around. Just not well done and not for me.
