2.5LTR - JOHNSTONES Trade Alkali Resistant Primer

This is an amazing product. I have used it in our old Cornish cottage to cover nicotene stained walls and ceiling, mould and damp of quite considerable extent and as a primer for old crumbly plaster. The finish is of a satin quality and you may need to use more than two coats of emulsion afterward to cover this. You can wallpaper straight onto this,however, and it will provide a perfect surface for the wallpaper adhesive.Because this is alkali resistant it will seal over crumbling plaster and the old fashioned type of whitewashed plaster. Better than stain block (and more cost effective), better than most base coat products and makes a brilliant damp seal. In addition it can be used as an undercoat over dark paints and so on, but the price may be too high to make this as practical as a simple undercoat.

Excellent, it’s helped fix the problem (and nearly a year on).Very runny so lots of protection needed for the flooring. Easy to apply with a brush. Follow the instructions.

The best primer out there. Only ever use this.
