Latin Percussion LP402 7 Inch Ice Bell

I've been a drummer for nearly fifteen years, playing and recording with various classic rock and country groups in the area. Having eyed the Zildjian Ice bells for a while, I couldn't bring myself to pay the exorbitant prices they run. Still, the ability to play off a bell without having to reach over to the ride was something I couldn't pass up - I could, in theory, play faster, lighter, and more complex with an Ice Bell. LP has made some some good equipment over the years and I'll admit that I purchased their bell not having actually seen one in person.I lucked out. The LP Ice Bell has a great sound without the overdrawn sustain of the Zildjian. It is a thick and heavy cymbal and, as such, has a sort of industrial sound to it - the sort of sound heavy metal guys love. I cannot say that it is exactly what I was looking for, but then again, I have yet to see ANY cymbal bell sound exactly like what I want. The LP bell is certainly better than the competition and is FAR better priced.My review is for the 7in bell - bear in mind that at this point LP offers them in two different sizes, with the 7in being the smaller.

very nice clear cutting bell tone, brilliant as an effects/ accent cymbal, with a longer than expected sustain. was A little surprised at the rough finish of the underside at first, but it is clearly part of the design. Love it! a much cheaper alternative to a lot of the "bells" out there.

Sounds great! A bit expensive for this little thing though. I think it should go for about $25.

This bell sounds great. I've compared to zil-bels and prefer this hands down. The zil has a more pronounced stick sound, but lacks the sweet tone that the LP has. If you're micing or recording and you want this bell to stand out, it'll need to be close to a ride or hi hat spot mic. Or have it's own spot mic. For the price you can't go wrong. If you need a cheap, good sounding bell for accents, this is it.

Great quality & sound in a 7" Bell.This bell can be used for several applications and genre's of music.It fits perfect for hard rock & metal.I recommend this for anyone adding a bell to your kit. You just can't beat the price.Reminds me of the Zildjian Zilbel but for about 1/2 the price.

Nice thick ice bell. Has a sharp bright ring to it that works well in many songs and can be used as an accent. Bright finish on the top and raw on the bottom.

Ting ting, this bell cuts through the loud amps and a nice bell tone awesome

Bright, crisp, brilliant, LOUD. Better than any zil-bell I've tried.
