A deadheading machine
Got this for one-handed deadheading of Columbine, Geum, etc, and it's exactly what I hoped it would be. You can't tell from the images but the clamp attachment does in fact close tight if you squeeze the handle all the way. Only some of the thinnest stems escaped its grip as I pruned, basically because they were propelled away too fast by the cutting action. Regardless, makes it possible to deadhead spent blooms without raining debris down on the plant or using your other hand (which can be problematic when plant saps are skin irritants). A real time/hassle saver when you have a lot of deadheading to do. I plan to use a waist-worn pouch to collect the cut stems in tight spaces. Would prob carry a tall narrow container if using for cut flowers.Extremely well designed and built, and comfortable to use (I have large hands, and am right-handed). The partially open lock is a nice feature too, requiring less work to close the pruners. You do have to hold it clamp side up to catch the cut stems. Also, looks like you'll have to remove at least one half of the clamp attachment from time to time to clean fully, but that's not surprising. The pruner struggled a bit with a really thick rose stem (dime-size diameter) I tried to cut, but that seems to be thicker than it was designed for (unless you remove the clamp). There are a few cheaper pruners with a cut and hold feature, including another more basic Felco model, but I haven't tried any of those.

Rose grower's dream shears!
We all love Felco right? Right. Four years on and I'm still adoring these well-made, perfect grip-and-hold sheers. Make my rose pruning a dream. I've bought them for all the rose lovers in my life...and they all love them too.

Not What I Expected from Felco.
I have had other Felco pruners and was very satisfied. This one was just awful, would barely cut anything and then only with an inordinate amount of effort. I have replaced it with a Felco 6, and it is everything I hoped this one would be.

Good Choice
Excellent shears. Work perfectly and appear to be solidly made. I don't find any negatives. I have owned other shears by Felco for more than 20 years and they are still working perfectly.
