Help! NOT comparable to Clairol's discontinued 323d platinum blonde. :(
Someone please help! Years ago I used to bleach my hair to a great platinum color with Clairol 323d. Anything with yellow or pink tones makes my skin look a horrible red. The color I used to get was a shimmery white with violet tones.after an 8 year hiatus, I decided to go back to platinum. I just assumed the 323d would still be available. WRONG!!I grilled Sally Beauty employees for something comparable, and looked all over the web. Everything pointed to Wella T14.So I bleach and then toned. It is NOT the same color as 323d. It is too ashy and also still leaves too much brassiness behind (and my hair was already naturally blonde before I bleached).Has anybody found something that works as well as the defunct Clairol 323d?!

My Platinum Blonde Go-To
I have been bleaching my hair for ten years now. My hair is naturally dark blonde/ash. I wasn't introduced to chemical toning until a few years ago. Up until that point, I had continuously battled brassy strands. I tried Manic Panic white snow and Redkken Shades EQ 9V and 10V. Based on the reviews online, I decided to try Wella T18 and I now have found the perfect supplement to my hair regimen. When it's time for a touch up:Bleach my roots using 30vol sensitive scalp developer and bleach powderEvery couple of months, I will also do a bleach bath on the rest of my hair with keratin infused shampooI bleach my roots to a butter yellow, wash, rinse, but do not conditionOn towel dried hair (still semi damp) I apply the WellaT18. I find the toner absorbs more evenly if my hair is damp. I let the toner sit and when I think it has processed long enough, I let it sit another three to five minutes. I would rather have hair that is purple/gray for a couple of washes as opposed to having any yellow left.I wash my hair using Matrix So Silver shampoo and condition with Catwalk Fashionista. For some reason, my roots right at my scalp do not always tone to the icy color the rest of my hair does so I simply spritz in Roux Fanci-Full Rinse in Silver Lining or White Minx.

Ive used this product four times now.. & I will continue to use it. My hair prior was bleached from dark brown, to an orange then the first two applications brought my hair to the white/platinum blonde color. However the last two times I applied were dedicated to my roots. For whatever reason my roots had a difficult time taking. I definitely saw results, but it was a slow process. Yes the product smells gross, not for long - I usually open a window. & I apply quickly.. bc my scalp is sensitive & it tends to burn slightly when any such products are left on for more than 15/20 minutes. I used with 20 developer.

Helped me get my hair a great shade of blonde!
My hair is very thick and goes about 4-5 inches past the shoulder so I bought a big pack. I only needed 2 bottles though but this is a great deal if you plan on keeping your hair blonde in the future.I lightened my dark brown hair to a honey blonde with a box dye, then decided I wanted to go platinum and I lightened it again but it was yellow-y. Bought this toner, left it on for an hour with 30 vol developer under a hair dryer with cap on (this may be too extreme for some; I know my hair is thick and can withstand a lot so this method may not be best for everyone). Washed it out and deep conditioned it and viola! Amazing light light almost platinum blonde. I love it! No one at the salon wanted to attempt this color so I took matters into my own hands, and saved so much money too. I saw people swear by this toner on YouTube and other Amazon reviews so I had to try. You won't be disappointed!

If You Want To Go Blonde, Blonde, BLONDE!
I've gone from a deep Irish setter red to the whitest blonde in record time with the White Lady and the Wella 20 Volume Cream Developer. Doing this is not for the faint-hearted. I decided that if I ruined my hair, that I would go for a short pixie cut if worse came to worse, but I didn't have to cut all of my hair off. First, I let my hair fade out naturally as much as possible, looked at a great tutorial online, held my breath and just went for it! I've never tried such a drastic change as this at home, but it worked! My hair was below shoulder length, so I trimmed it to just above the shoulder and started putting the White Lady, mixed with the developer (amounts are on the developer bottle), on about three inches of my ends first (because there is more color there), then after 15 minutes brought more of the mixture up to the roots. Be sure that the mixture gets to all of the strands. I left it on for 60 minutes overall, and it turned out a light strawberry blonde. I gave it a second trim to cut off any dry ends. Then, I conditioned after every shampoo. The trick is to go slowly and deep condition to prevent damage. It may take you three or more times to get to white blonde, but be patient! It's a messy process, so line your sink and floor with old towels and wear latex medical gloves or it will blister your hands. I put Vaseline around my hair line to prevent burns on my face. The blue powder will get all over as you mix the two, so I mix them in a small bowl in the stainless steel kitchen sink. The color will turn purple on your hair as it develops, so don't freak! After a week, I did another bleach, and I was blonde, blonde, BLONDE!It's best if you don't wash your hair every day, and only use the bleach when absolutely necessary, to keep it in the best condition .Limit using hair styling devices that use heat, ie., straightening wands and hot rollers. I do use a hair dryer, and have had no problem with keeping my hair in great condition. Condition after every shampoo, and use the Palmer's Coconut packs once a month for a few hours to keep your hair healthy. I bleach when my silvery gray roots become about an inch long, and on the roots only. Now, I'm not a hairdresser, and I just held my breath and went by the tutorial, and it worked for me, but please know that I'm no hair expert! If you have any reservations, please go to a salon for such a drastic color change, especially when working with bleach. Before you bleach, test on a small piece of hair in back and underneath your hair up to the scalp to check for any negative skin reactions. Take great care not to get this in your eyes!
