Amazing illustrations
A beautifully illustrated, charmingly told story of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The picture book tells about how she and her new husband Diego Rivera first moved to San Francisco. After a time of uncertainty and doubt, she soon blooms both personally and artistically. Caldecott-winner David Diaz's illustrations are astounding - they bring the story to life with their rich colors and textures and beautiful lines.

I love the illustrations and the words
I love the illustrations and the words, just beautiful. But felt in order to read it to kids in my Art class the part where "Diego doesn't come home sometimes" is a bit awkward. Also it ends rarely abruptly or without any real conclusion of Frida's. But other that, it is a work of art!

Magnificent illustrations.... a story with true heart.
Frida's story is always beautiful... no matter who tells it. She was a woman of great courage and amazing talent. This book portrays Frida as the one who stays by her husband in all his glory.... yet she knows she is someone also. It speaks of her great humility and amazing creative gifts. But even more than this, it tells of how she listens to her heart as she continues on a path that eventually glorifies HER. Courage and tenacity..... patience and belief.... one of the best books I have read of her journey. GREAT for a child who may feel a bit insecure, different.... to let them know.... they WILL shine. A gift of belief in oneself.Thank you, Ms. Novesky!

I'm sure this is a wonderful book, but the Kindle version is scrambled. Don't buy it. Trying to find a way to get my money back.

Beautiful
We gave this book to our six-year-old grandson for Christmas. Besides educating him about a talented artist, the book is visually beautiful in its own right.
