The Best!
I don't think you can find a better book on the construction of the Empire State Building. It is concise, interesting, and an actual record. Amazing story; that's for sure. I particularly am astounded by the ending notes: something you won't find in today's world.

Best book on the construction of the ESB.
What an amazing feat of ingenuity almost 90 years ago that will never be repeated. Built in 14 months they averaged over 7,000sf/day. Today a job built at a pace of 3,000sf/day is considered 'warp' speed. Today we talk about LEAN construction when in fact the Empire State Building instituted numerous concepts that now are being considered new ideas. Great photos and diagrams w/ equally well thought out text. The best book I have seen on the construction of the ESB. A must for all currently involved in the construction industry.

Astonishing insight in the building process of this landmark
Based on actual records the construction company kept during the building process, this book gives an insight of how such an astonishing effort was completed. The whole process of buying the spot, finding an architect(!), tearing down the existing building, design, and building the Empire State took only 22 months. It's an outstanding example of how the management of a very complex project can be done and a must read for everyone in the software industry ;-). Fun to browse through yourself, a sure hit as a gift to anyone interested or working in architecture, construction or project management.

You sold me with the book cover!
This is as advertised a rediscovered notebook charting the construction of the iconic Empire State Building. For those old timers who want to reminisce about the good old days in construction why not relive it with the best. For the younger generation involved with construction or just fascinated by it, enjoy the choreography of constructing a floor a day on what was to be the world's tallest. Yes, put your Gant Charts, CAD Drawings and the modern electronics aside and peer through the construction notes. What a wonderful discovery! Enjoy!

Excellent reprint of the construction log for the Empire State Building
This is a reprint of the typed notes of the progress of building the Empire State Building. It brings to life the excitement of the construction process of the world's tallest building which was constructed in a record amount of time which remains unsurpassed to this day. The amount of orgnanization which was required to accomplish this feat is truly daunting and this book takes the reader into it. I highly recommnend this for both architects and those involved in the construction trades.
