I like to sharpen things anyways
I reviewed the comments before purchasing. The price point was in my ball park. Buyers found the draw knife adequate for stripping bark of of fallen trees. The edge of the knife out of the box is sharp. Mine the bottom was angled up and not intirely flat. I like to sharpen things anyways. The steel is excellent. Good hardness. Worked it on a stone for about eight hours over a week. Used a file in the last stages. The steel resisted the cutting edges of the file. Its good at this stage but needs a little more filing and honing. The handles are at a good and comfortable angle to work many hours without fatigue setting in. Other similar product was over a hundred dollars and I still would have sharpened it. I recommend because hands tools are a personal commodety .

Good knife for sawmill.
I bought this knife to peel dirty bark from logs before sawing them on my band sawmill. It is well suited for this but I don't think it is the quality knife needed for shaving in fine wood working.

New pastime
Surprisingly good for an imported tool in this price range. I sharpened mine a little. Works well, good value. Shipped and arrived in a reasonable amount of time, no problems. Feel safe ordering it, if you know anything about tools, you shouldn’t be disappointed for a new tool of this quality in this price range. I discovered that I really like shaving bark, it’s kind of cathartic...love it!

Seems to be well made
I like the sharp blade and the good feel of the handles. Hope it lasts for many years and I think it will.

Awesome, but didn't need this big of one
This item is great. I purchased it for my husband and it arrived so fast he didn't realize what it was. Knowing what we know now the 10" would have been more than enough. He is a bigger guy and this is wider than he needs, but still works like a champ.

Very good draw knife
If you've ever used a draw knife before you will appreciate the sturdiness of this one! Very good value.

Plan on spending some time flattening and sharpening if you need precision cuts
I bought this tool mainly to remove bark from logs, and for this function it is a good value. You can put a rough sharpening on it, and strip bark easily. However, if you plan to use this for finer woodworking, I would invest in a higher quality tool.Once I did a few logs, I decided I would try to clean up the edge a bit to use for other projects. The backside of the blade is absolutely not flat - it has a serious concave surface in the middle. I've spent several hours with files, sandpaper, and sharpening stones to get it closer to flat, and I'm still working on it.For rough scraping, it's a fine tool. But if you're using this for traditional fine woodworking, I'd save up and get something better, unless you want to put the time into resurfacing the blade.

Strong and well built
This is not intended to be a draw knife as one would use on a shaving horse. Its a very heavy duty tool for stripping bark off of logs.
