Great jars!
These jars are the "real deal." And I would expect that being the Ball brand. They have measurement markings on the jar which helps a lot, depending on what you're doing. Also, the lids fit correctly and are interchangeable with other brands of wide mouth lids. That helps me a lot since I use plastic jar lids for everyday use. Always use the metal lids and bands for long-term storage. Also, I am a small person yet I can handle the dimension of the jar when drinking out of it (it's not too big for my hand grip). Highly recommend if you need tall mason jars!

A hard to find size that has many uses
Love the size, perfect for my homemade yogurt and many other uses. A bit tricky to clean due to depth. The only real objection is these are more expensive than I liked, so I will mostly use the more economical sizes.

Love these Ball Jars!
I absolutely love my Ball Jars! I have them in 5 different sizes. I'd never seen the pint and half jars before I got these. They're quite attractive. I threw away all of my plastic and use my glass Ball Jars to store everything from dried beans, soup, and nus to dry to dog food! They also make a lovely vase for flowers. Take out the lid and screw the rim back on -- put a bit of water in the jar and your fresh cut flowers -- beautiful! Did I say the jars are handy:) Make sure you wash them before use, even if you intend to use them only for dried beans. There is some serious stink going on inside the jars. Putting them in the dishwasher will solve that. For folks who knit or crochet, you can make a Yarn Jar, Use a sipping insert and thread the yarn through the hole intended for a straw, then screw the lid back on (see attached photo). Yarn bowls are lovely but can be costly. A Ball Yarn Jar costs a fraction and are also lovely!I love that Ball jars are so useful, are environmentally friendly and you can get a good price on Amazon -- you gotta love Amazon! On closer examination of the jars, I found 3 of the lids were dented. The shipping box was crushed on one side, maybe that's how it happened. I contacted Amazon and they adjusted my order. Tank you, Amazon!

Love love love these jars
Just wish they weren’t discontinued! They are such a perfect size for canning soups, asparagus etc. Can’t imagine why they are no longer available.

Great for QUICK BREADS!
My daughter-in-law received a jar of "canned" banana bread one year, and I had to find out how it was done! Because of the straight sides, the bread comes out easily and is ready to slice and serve, always MOIST without having to use up your freezer room (and risking freezer burn!). To "can" quick breads, sterilize the jars and let them dry COMPLETELY! Spray the instead with BAKING SPRAY (spray with the flour in it), Fill the jars 2/3 full with the prepared batter Make sure the rims are SQUEAKY CLEAN!!) Place on a cookie sheet on a lower rack (not the bottom) in a reheated oven and bake until a CAKE TESTER (long NOT toothpick!) comes out clean... Place lids and bands on AFTER BAKING* and set on rack to cool completely and seal (8 to 24 hours) I have taken jars to church for coffee hour to keep if the treats aren't brought on any given service.*NOTEIf bread domes above the jar, just push it down with the lids, making sure to keep the rim clean to insure seal!WARNING! Do NOT reuse jars to pressure can after baking in them, water bath canning is fine.

I LOVE the narrow jars because they fit great in my ...
I got these wide mouth jars to use for drinking glasses. I LOVE the narrow jars because they fit great in my car cup holders. I use mason jars for drinking glasses because you can put lids on them and carry your drink anywhere. They are kind of hard to break, and when they do break they seem to do so in large chunks and not shatter all over my floor. I don't find glass shards weeks later in the bottom of my foot.I use the lids that screw on with a hole for a straw. These work great for both cold and hot drinks. Sometimes I brew my tea in them also.I did not detect any weird odor when I got my box. I do want to add that I ran each jar through the dishwasher before I used them. I do not ever do any canning or preserving foods with them, so I cannot comment on that aspect. But for drinking, they are da bomb.

Great canning Jars
I ran out of jars because my Wife re-purposed them for seed collection and storage. I ordered these jars for canning mostly Tomato Sauce from our bumper crop of Tomaters. They’ve worked out very well. Pricey, but good canning jars.

Ball is quality
They’re Ball jars so of course they’re good. No flaws in the rings or lids.Price was high. This is an atypical size so my local stores don’t have it in stock, but I was surprised to find my local grocery store has 4, 8, 16, & 32 oz jars for considerably less than an sellers on Amazon.
