Bought to replace a broken Hofner bass tuner
I have a Hofner Ignition Beatle Bass which is their cheapest model so the hardware is not brilliant and one of the machineheads failed. I was not expecting much by way of quality due to the very low price of these Yibuy machineheads. However, it fitted the bass with the screw holes matching and the existing ferrule was perfect too. Installed it in minutes and I have to say I’m very impressed. One thing I really hate are sloppy or tight machineheads. These work just fine. Only time will tell if they last but as at today on day 1 they are doing the job. I will now change the other 3 so they match. The Hofner basses are unusual in that they use regular guitar machine heads rather than bass specific ones. It does mean they are much lighter so neck dive is reduced.

Guitar restoration
Very impressed with service - ordering, packaging and delivery First Class. Thank you.Have bought these machine heads to replace the 1957/58 ones on my Hofner Senator guitar which I have owned for the past 50 years. I replaced two of the machine heads many years ago and the remaining buttons are well crazed. These I have just bought are not replicas but fir well and include decoratively patterned base plates and, although the buttons are simply plastic, the colour's fine and I will file the seams flush. They will look perfectly OK on the finished restoration. The rest of the restoration is going to take a little longer !!!Very happy.

Reasonable quality.
They're for an old guitar, so will be OK.

Badly made machine heads - Avoid!
These machine heads looked nice in the photos. When they arrived I fixed them to the guitar. When I started to put the new strings on, two of the thumb screws to tighten the strings, started to loosen the tension after winding. When I looked underneath to see what was happening, the spindle thread which is supposed to run the thread groove in marriage with the adjacent cog. This was not doing this. Instead it was skipping when turning under tension. This is a poor design and badly made product. And so you get what you pay for. Beware - Buy cheap, pay twice!!!

You get what you pay for.
I bought these to replace old and bent ones on a vintage tenor guitar. They look smart, but are very soft metal and the “brass” cog is just mild steel with a brass coating. I only needed four luckily, because one of them locked up because the screw thread on the pinion was damaged. I turned a bit harder to clear the stoppage, but the gear wheel was so soft that two of the “brass”teeth sheared and revealed the pot metal underneath. The very thin baseplate also bent out of shape. If you are making or mending a decent guitar, pay at least double to get some tuners that will last.
