Q: The band being 4" wide, how easy is it to tie together to make a loop from a single piece? Thanks!

Easy, just make sure that you allow enough band to tie the knot. I have had NO problem with knots coming untied or loose.

Q: What exactly is this type of material?

It's an elastic type strip that is cut from a 25' roll and is used to exercise with.

Q: Can these bands be used in the water?

Sure no problem. Don’t know if chlorinated water would shorten the life though.

Q: How long should these last? I have not had them long and my class uses them 1x/week, 4 people use the black & they are splitting & getting holes!

Should last for at least a year… usually 6 months to 2 years, depending on the frequency and intensity of use. How long have they been using them? Doubt you got an old product, but sometimes it happens.
