Smittybilt 76740D SRC Classic Front Bumper with D-Ring Mounts and Shackles for 1976-2006 Jeep® Wrangler TJ/YJ/LJ

Pros: The bumper looks great and feels stout, especially for the low price it goes for. The paint is applied well with no bubbling or cracking. The install was super easy, with only one minor adjustment for fitment, which is pretty typical of parts made for 2 body styles of Jeeps, TJ and YJ.Cons: That minor adjustment was grinding down the washers so the bolt holes lined up on the top side of the bumper. I had to grind about half of the washer wall on one side to make these fit. All in all, this only added about 5 minutes to the install, so not a big deal. The bigger issue is that while this does use all 6 factory mounting bolts, 2 of the top ones are only going through a washer so they aren't actually helping with horizontal loads on the bumper, like, say, a D ring being used as a winch point. Instead of 3 bolts holding, it's really only 2 for each side. The factory tow hooks do act as a link for the bumper to the bolts in the back, but that is a weaker connection than if the bolt holes were attached to the bumper itself. That's probably enough for most applications, but it's something to keep in mind if you're going to put a lot of stress on the D rings.

I previously ordered a discounted damaged box Smittybilt stainless tubular bumper but it was also damaged. Sent it back then ordered this one, it too was marked down as "used but in great shape." Because it's a heavy duty one piece bumper and not hollow stainless steel it was just fine. Installed in only 10 minutes. I like the slim design and the attached D-Rings, but should something happen up front I feel I have a solid bumper up there to take care of business. It replaced the original bumper which had some damage to the right side by a minor fender bender from previous owner, kind of ugly so I wanted to replace it. The original bumper is at least half the weight of this one, so even though it's slim I feel that it's sturdy. Can add a winch plate and winch later if I decide to, but for those looking to buy the bumper the photos showing those items are only for future installation purposes, doesn't come with them. Overall pretty nice. Does NOT work with the RC winch plate unless you modify it. Will post pictures soon.

I got the bumper two days ago, but I'm waiting to open it until Christmas. All that I can say for now is that it is a LOT heavier than the stock bumper on my 04 TJ. The box was ripped open on one end it was so heavy. The paint on the side of the bumper near the end that got ripped got scraped off, but I'm not too worried about it. I'm so excited to put it on. I'll follow up with an update when I get to install it.Update: Man, this bumper is solid. The D-rings on the front are gigantic. It gave my Jeep a totally different look. I had one problem installing it, however. I had the factory tow hooks on the front of my Jeep and I'm guessing that the bolts that were installed with it were longer than if you got a Jeep without the factory tow hooks. This created a problem, because you can't really use the tow hooks on this bumper unless you get some sort of washer, or just use the one provided and grind it a little bit narrower into an oval type shape, as it only covers the front holes on the top. If you don't, the bolts will go down and grind up against the tube attached to the frame. You can force it, which is what I did (temporarily), but I'm worried that the added lateral pressure might cause the bolt to snap in half under stress or something.

This bumper was easy to install and all of the holes lined up correctly. I replaced the factory bumper with this one and there is no comparison. This bumper also has the tow mounts already welded on. Looks cool too. Use the included spacers if you're mounting on a TJ. I purchased Grade 8 bolts and that was a good idea.

This come with only the bumper and shackles. The winch plate and fair leads are an extra. After arriving I read through the reviews and noted several other complaint. It is still a good price but I did not receive what I thought I was going to get. I would return it but my old bumper is bone and I need this right away.Amazon, in order to make this right I believe you owe every purchaser the winch plate as shown. Super easy install. Start spraying PB Blaster on the bolts on your current bumper the day you order this one, you'll regret not doing so after you round out a T50 head.Not a whole lot to this one. Very sturdy, came with the D-rings, for less than $150 you wont find a better bumper. I've heard the powder coating leaves something to be desired so I'm interested to see how it holds up. As far as recovery goes, this bumper will have 0 issues getting snatched around by other vehicles.
