It Seems To Work
I bought it because my dad has COPD, and I noted from other reviews that other people/carers dealing with COPD had rated it highly (along with the fact that it claims to be supplied to the NHS).I must admit that I haven't read the instructions yet. However, in typical bloke-mode, I opened the box, opened the battery compartment (noting that it is designed such that both batteries are inserted the same way), and inserted the batteries. I stuck it on my finger, and noting that nothing happened, I pressed the only button on it, and it turned on.It immediately read my spO2 and reported 98%. Proceeding on the assumption that there's nothing wrong with me (and I'm not aware that there is), and having read up a bit, I concluded a) that there was still nothing wrong with me, and b) that the device was working. I then tried it on my dad while he was resting (as in, not trying to mow the lawn or anything, which I have repeatedly warned him not to even attempt, otherwise it won't be the COPD that eventually finishes him off) and it read 88%.So far, so good. I need to check him out now after he's been to fetch the newspapers tomorrow morning. It came next day (Prime) in the usual huge shipping packet relative to the primary container - which is maybe the size of two matchboxes - it is supplied in.I note that it remains on while it is receiving data, and continuously scans. It turns off not many seconds after you take it off (i.e. after it stops receiving data). It has a nice blue and yellow display, and is well made. You can change the orientation of the readout by pressing the button, and the button also lets you access the setup menus. When I get round to reading the instructions, I'm sure I will understand how it does that. At this stage, I have discovered the menu accidentally - probably as a result of holding the button for longer than a single press. So far I'm impressed.

More accurate than cheap models
A neat looking gadget, annoying alarm function on it, but I suppose only if you are like me with low oxygen exchange rate and fluctuating pulse rates. The lanyard was surprisingly easy to attach, but if attached, stops you using the case. I've had it compared to NHS types and found it to be 5 +/- in accuracy.

TempIR Finger Pulse Oximeter
A professionally built device which is clear to understand and simplicity to use. I'm unsure as yet to the accuracy of the device I've just bought as it is regularly showing I have an Spo2 reading at and below 90 and in the low to mid 80'sThe one the doctor used yesterday showed an spo2 of 96, however I didn't have this unit to compare at the same time, but on returning home the purchased unit showed spo2 at 88? (This has now been proven correct by a QEQMH respiratory consultant).Lesson in life.., at the docs, a quick few seconds doesn't tell the whole story. I went through some weeks of respiratory distress thinking it was the seasonal bout of bronchitus, and this device has showed regularly I had another problem going on.After going through Resus and A&E these last two days, I was put on 8ltr/pm of oxgen and the Spo2 readings at hopspital were still low. So using this device has got me from the doctors thinking somthing is going on but not hearing me on my Spo2 readings, and a quick in surgery reading which at that time was normal, to using this one wondering. The same thing happened at the hopspital, their unit showed low, then changed fingers and for a few seconds it showed normal then within moments it plumeted. So self monitoring won the day. I wouldn't normally do this but the old saying you know when something isn't right came into play and I felt a hankering to get this little device. As I say it was spot on accurate and verified very accurate by the A&E as well as Resus unit at the QEQM hospital. And I am now on a course of informed treatment and tests after this and CT scans.. Now that wouldn't have happened with the GP.I actually love the build and design and its simplicity of use and the display superb. 5 out of 5 for design, functionality and material.

Excellent price for an accurate device that looks very professional. Super easy to use with a clear and friendly display.
I purchased this alongside a blood pressure monitor. This device is handier than the testing device you get on your samsung mobile phone, plus it is able to check your oxygen levels too. The unit is very easy to use, you simply clip it over your finger and press the button. It quickly gives you your heart rate and oxygen level, plus it shows a small graph of your heart beat. The device appears to be quite accurate and the results don't bounce around. My oxygen level appeared to be static around 97%.The unit doesn't work for everyone. I tested it on all my fingers and it produced quick consistent results every time. I tried it on another person and it refused to work. It took a while to just find a suitable finger. I believe this is down to poor circulation in the fingers, but if you suffer from the dreaded cold fingers you might find it hard to get any results out of this.Other useful things about this are that you can press the button and cycle through various displays, with slightly different styles and with different orientation. This makes it much easier to read the display. The unit turns itself off after you stop using it. The unit comes with an optional lanyard accessory and is presented in a little case that will keep it protected and in good condition. Overall, I am very pleased with this, it works well and accurately and was at a very reasonable price.
