Supplies exactly what the title claims
I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews of this book. The first few pages make it clear that it was written for people who are in the process of learning modern Greek, and who already have some background to build on. It won't teach anyone the language top to bottom, there are no exercises or paradigm sentences, or graded readings. But if you are studying the language by other means, like with a teacher, this book can be a real time-saver. The biggest problem most English-speakers confront in demotic Greek is inflections. What this book does is supply the patterns of the inflections according to case, number, gender, person, tense and mood for each part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, etc.) as a series of grids. By looking up the parts of speech a reader who knows what he or she wants to say, knows the verb, knows the nouns, adjectives and adverbs they want to use, can sort out the grammatical details by checking through the grids. Adjective endings must agree with noun endings, which are subject to the verb number, case, etc., and everything has to have the right articles. So this book won't teach you the words-you'll have to pick that up elsewhere-but it can help make your spoken and written Greek accurate and intelligible. Even if the book still uses diacriticals that Greece abandoned in the eighties, the reader for whom this book is intended will know which ones to ignore. For the price, it's a bargain.

excellent, well organized
This book was exactly what I wanted. It is a concise Modern Greek Grammar.

To benefit from this book you must first learn the Greek alphabet
If you don’t know the Greek alphabet and how to sound out Greek words from the letters, this book will be useless to you. I’m still trying to learn the alphabet from an app and a workbook, so I can someday use this book.In the preface the author advises us to learn several hundred Greek phrases and expressions before embarking on these pages. He admits you’ll probably have to read through the book several times before the complexities of the grammar become clear. At the same time he sees the aim of this little book to help adults study on their own.I really like the chapter on the Greek alphabet. The pronunciation of each letter and the names of the letters are given in phonetic English. Also, how diphthongs are pronounced is very clearly spelled out. After this chapter, however, there is no Greek vocabulary written in English phonetics. You have to sound out the Greek letters in the words given as examples. The sample sentences are not geared towards tourism or any special interest. Since I’m a tourist, this is not ideal for me.I suspect this is a good sound book, which is why I give it 4 stars. But at this point in my slow progress towards Greek, I’m not ready for it.

It is exactly what it claims to be.
I have to give this little book 5 stars. It is hard to find modern greek grammar resources that keep it simple and this one does the trick. It boils down the most common structures and forms of modern greek and gives you the essential rules. This is ideal for self-study if you already know some greek. I'm glad I found this one.

Good to use as a reference and with other material
It's good, but:1) you need to have some level of Greek comprehension. Preferably Greek level 2 or 32) use as a supplement to your other learning aids3) do not buy as a standalone bookIt's good, but tor these reasons, I give it 3 stars.

A great resource in not too many words!
This is a really straight forward guide to Greek grammar. It is super easy to navigate. If you have a question about what something is while speaking/listening/reading Greek, just flip to the section covering that topic and it gives you a straight forward answer in only as many words as needed.

Very good buy
I’ve bought many grammar books for many languages of the course of 8 or so years, but this is by far one of the best that I have purchased.

Kindle edition is seriously flawed
This has some useful material, but it's flawed--especially on Kindle. Content-wise, it assumes you know serious grammatical terms. I don't, but I can get around that for what I need. Kindle-wise, some of the Greek letters are NOT set up correctly. They don't display correctly on my Kindle Paperwhite, nor do they display correctly on the Kindle App on my Android smartphone. It's weird because it's not like Greek letters are inaccessible to electronic typesetters, right? Makes a lot of if difficult to read. If you think you could use this book, get the paper version.

Thinner than Kate Moss at her anorexic worst!
Why was this book even made? I wondered as I sifted through it. Then I realised a better question would be “for whom was this book made?” The answer, from the way the books has been written is, someone who is way way way way way ahead of me in Greek. Not a hard thing to be, or do. But I can’t seem to justify yet the monetary cost paid for it. Soon!

Five Stars
Useful little book (even though Modern Greek has changed since the book was published, still a great resource)
