No pressure using this device
There was no pressure using the Omron HEM-432C because it is so easy to use! The item arrived quickly and well packaged in just 5 days. There was the normal abundance of paperwork inside the box, including lists of other items by the same manufacturer, which may prove handy later on. The instruction leaflet was adequate for the operation of the device but did lack a little clarity in its description of how to place the arm band. It seems quite critical that the sensor is placed directly over the correct part of the inner arm and this took a couple of tries before I got clean readings.... but now I get it every time.I was shocked at the level of compression that this device can put on your arm if you're not paying attention and crank it up beyond the suggested 180 mmHg of pressure! So be careful when you first start using the device, I would imagine more sensitive types could bruise there arm or just simply make life rather uncomfortable for a while. The readings I have gotten are very compatable with my doctor's numbers and I get to see moderate fluctuations throughout the day, as he suggested I would. It is proving to be a very useful device to set my mind at ease on how I am controlling my blood pressure. The ability to look back through many readings and see the date and the pressure readings, is an awesome feature. This was the feature that attracted me to the 432C and it doesn't disappoint. The price is very low for a device that is technologically advanced and highly accurate. I am impressed so far with the quality of design and dependability.I would highly recommend any products from this manufacturer.

The best type of meter for many people, which is being forgotten these days...
This type of blood pressure meter is THE BEST for an independent person like me. You pump up the cuff MANUALLY, with a squeeze bulb. For me, this takes all the fear out of checking my BP. Instead of a noisy air pump that takes over and "runs wild", you are in full control of how fast and how far the cuff is inflated. It is a relatively quiet and gentle process. Yet this meter has fully modern electronics to read the pressure and display it. Also, the cuff fits perfectly for a normal sized arm.Years ago, I learned that I could take my blood pressure easily every day with this type of meter. In fact, you can repeat the measurement a few times to gain confidence that it is right. Best of all, by checking your BP every day, you start to notice what lowers it. I have able to greatly lower my own BP over time with this type of meter, and without drugs. One caveat, however. If you are not willing to read the short manual and practice using this meter a few times, forget it. You need to know what the flashing symbols mean, and so on. Yet it is a snap once you get it. I suspect many who say this meter "doesn't work" probably haven't fully read the instructions. People with decreased ability or lesser coordination would do better with an automatic air pump meter.

Manual inflator is more durable and reliable but no USB and blue tooth connectivity.
Manual inflation is much more reliable and durable than the flimsy little compressors with plastic parts that the automatic inflation units have. The compressors go bad quickly and the units become erratic under or over inflating and give errors (failure to read) which can drive you crazy doing the BP measurement over and over till you get an error-free reading.Batteries last a long time because the only drain is the display which is minimal, whereas, in the automatic units, it takes a lot of battery power to run the compressor to inflate the cuff.Unfortunately, the industry (and Omron is no exception) considers manually inflated units not a top-of-the-line type of product, for sure not from the price point of view, as a rubber squeeze-bulb inflator is way cheaper than even a compressor with plastic parts. So these type of units lack some very useful electronic bells and whistles like USB port and ways to export data, blue tooth connectivity to PC or mobile apps. Were it not for these missing goodies, I would have given this unit 5 stars.

Excellent Blood Pressure Monitor gives excellent results
I found that this monitor gives excellent results if you don't use the first measurement, and keep the rest of the results (within a 10 minute span) in memory. It holds up to 30 average results, and is easy to use. Pressing the pump bulb rapidly helps to get a good measurement. Position the cuff 1/2 inch above the crease in your elbow, (not above the elbow proper), and you will get excellent results. I'm a smoker, and find that after waiting 30 minutes like the instructions say (that goes for food or excercise, too), my blood pressure, both systolic and diastolic, are lower than the measurement my doctor gets.

Solid build, easy to use and good accuracy....
My wife had high BP, so we got this model. The reasons for choosing this model were that:1. the upper arm monitors are supposed to be more accurate2. it was cheaper than the fully automatic models3. Omron seems to be one of the better/best brands.4. Supposedly, the pumps on the fully automatic models are prone to breaking. The unit appears well built (including the hand pump). It is easy to operate, and it seems very accurate. We checked its readings with an fully manual unit that we have at home, and the automatic unit at the drug store. We find it takes very accurate and consistent readings.People with physical limitations might find the hand pump inconvenient. Also, people with a big arm might need to buy the larger cuff. I'm overweight right now, so the cuff barely fits my arm, but fits my wife's nicely (it was bought for her).

Manual BP Tests May Be Best
and I wanted SO MUCH to like this device...but, after about 30 tries over two(2) days, only 1(one) completed BP result registered...The other 29 times, I received an E error...I varied the inflation pressure, cuff position, but to no avail...I have a heart rhythm issue, so that might have foiled the device's efforts to properly eval my BP...I'm returning this as it was not helpful to me...but a younger, healthier person might get better results...Take Care!
