Best Coaching Book I've Read!
Are you looking for a great book on Coaching? Check out Evocative Coaching by Bob and Megan Tschannen-Moran. It's the best book on coaching I've ever read.Evocative Coaching, Transforming Schools One Conversation at a Time, was written to help those who coach teachers understand some of the challenges these dedicated individuals face and how to coach them to achieve a higher level of professional performance and job satisfaction. You don't have to be a teacher's coach to appreciate the valuable information that fills this book. Evocative Coaching reminds us what coaching is all about and provides us with new, very usable, techniques to enhance our clients' coaching experience. Evocative Coaching techniques work with any coaching specialty and the information in the book can be especially helpful to those coaches who plan to pursue IAC accreditation.Bob Tschannen-Moran is the President of Life Trek Coaching International, the founder of the Center for School Transformation and the 2010 President of the International Association of Coaching.Megan Tschannen-Moran, Ph.D. is professor of Educational Policy, Planning and Leadership at the College of William and Mary School of Education.

Evocative Coaching Rocks !
This is a terrific book ! I've been working in the area of instructional coaching for the past several years as both a trainer of coaches and an instructional coach. This book takes the idea and ideal of coaching to new levels...I am underlining almost every sentence !As the authors state..."Adults need follow-up support to continue and advance their learning over time."This is so powerful and so infrequently implemented with our professional development plans.Big thumbs up to Evocative Coaching !

Excellent Resource
With the advent of Common Core all teachers must rethink their teaching practice. Instructional Guides or Instructional Coaches with strong relational skills, effective classroom practice and deep understanding of the demands of the Common Core will be transformation makers in supporting student achievement. This book can support coaches in finding their way with adults in schools.

An approach to coaching derived from "life coaching" not appropriate for the professional development of educators
This book promotes an approach to coaching derived from "life coaching" and is not appropriate for the professional development of educators. While it includes some useful elements, it is overly complex, and assumes that becoming an effective teacher is a matter of self-discovery, rather than a profession grounded in research, standards, and rigor that can be learned and practiced. The authors fail to address issues of race and equity. There is much better stuff out there.

Evoking greatness through coaching
This is a book that redefines leadership coaching. It is a strengths-based rather than a deficit model and is empoweringFor both the coach and the coaches.

3rd year coach
I am a 3rd year instructional coach and my district provided very little training. After reading this book it confirmed what I was doing right, gave me insight and lots of ideas. Easy read. Great for ADMINISTRATORS too!

*THE* guide for coaches in schools who lead with strong values and empathy for effective progress.
An excellent guide to the fundamentals of coaching. Easy to read, yet sufficiently in-depth with reflective questions at the end of each chapter. I am reading it alongside a course with Lead Learners Associates which I absolutely recommend. This style of coaching completely fits with all that I value and honour in education. Quietly and yet with efficacy, the Tschannen-Morans and their colleagues at Lead Learners are changing the world and the teaching profession for the better; not because teachers are broken, but because they are amazing professionals who deserve to be recognised, heard and supported.

When the alternative makes more sense than the status Quo
While it can be forgiven for being a little ponderous and slow in places (it could actually have been written a lot pithier), it does what it says on the cover. An excellent alternative to external appraisal and external direction which places professional and personal development in the hands of the teacher.
