Review of Knights:The Eye of Divinity
Knights is an all around solid book. It does have a few hiccups, but nothing that would keep me from recommending this book. The characters are interesting. Using Lannon, the main character, the author gives us a chance to see some of their layers. Unfortunately the author doesn't go into that great detail on the characters to explain everything that was seen. However since this is the first book in the series I will assume that they mean to expand more in that area in the following books. Also while the good guys are good and the bad guys are bad, they aren't flat. The good guys have their flaws and not all the bad guys are pure evil. The world Keller has built is quite in depth. The entirety of this novel takes place in Silverland and Dremlock Kingdom, but there are many more kingdoms that are mentioned. Again I would like to have found out more about them as well, but I am going to assume they will be explored more in future novels. There is also tons of action and intrigue in the story itself. It is a great starter series for middle grade teen readers who are interested in Fantasy because of this. While there isn't necessarily a fight scene on every page, the book doesn't lag in between the action and holds the reader's attention. Even though I think younger readers would be interested I think older readers would be drawn into the story as well. It has many layers and the world has some great potential.I only had two main issues with the book. The first was some of the things that were hinted at, but never fully answered. I do understand that there will be more novels in the series. Maybe some of those things will be explained then, but I think I would have enjoyed the book more if those threads hadn't been left untied. The second was that sometimes the main character seemed very weak willed. He would say he was going to be one way and then when the moment came to prove himself he would fold. I can see were this gives the main character the space to grow in future books. I also know that I said that the characters having flaws and not being flat was what helped to make the story interesting, but, I personally found it mildly agitating. It is solid writing overall and looks like a good start to a series. The issues I had with the book are mainly my own view of how I feel a book should go and, as I said above, nothing that would keep me from recommending the book. I plan in fact to give this book as presents in the near future so that says something right there.

Just what you would look for in a fantasy fiction.
I will try to explain as much as I can without revealing anything, there may be spoilers, you are forewarned.PlotI would say there is a solid plot. In simple speak, the good guy starts weak and gathers strength. The kingdom of Dremlock and the world are under threat of being conquered by "evil". The unique ability the main character has is key in fighting back this evil.Character Development-The Divine Knights are what you would expect of hardened veterans each having unique abilities. Their personalities are solid and remain true throughout the book.-The main character is not your typical hero, and at times his character flaws give cause for wanting a little more, however the writer does show progress in his development giving hope for the sequel. Sadly he is not the character most would be drawn to. The example of this is Taris, a much more interesting character.-The supporting characters are really well done up, the female is a little typical of fantasy fiction support as the attractive mage.-The warrior's character was the biggest failing in the developing of the story. At random times his alignment goes from chaotic good to neutral with no good cause. He is also considered the intelligent one but his actions are completely contradictory.-The thief character is one that I think original, mysterious and one that draws more interest than the majority of the other characters in the story.EnviromentGloomy. There is a pervailing heaviness that is constantly impressed through numerous direct and indirect influences. Such as landscape, architecture, emotional and physical presence. The shadow reached out of the book to inflict its gloom as I read, I mean that as a praise to the authors writing.Grammar and SpellingFor an E-book I only found a handful of mistakes, such as bit was spelled "bi" and singing was "signing". Other than that I was pleased that I could read and not get caught up on little things such as that.I didn't find any speach grammar issues through dialogue, which made it easier to follow. As far as punctuation and formating his skills surpass mine as a writer. (kudos)OriginalityWell constructed with subtle personal touches. Plot is standard. Characters are rich but main character may have been overdone in the negative light but great job breaking from the almighty hero. The world is not laid out for the lack luster imagination; the author clearly wants to express character interactions and empahisizes alot on back history in present tense.Pros-Great characters-Story moves at a the right pace-Plenty of actionCons-The warrior support friend-The use of GOBLIN this GOBLIN that. (Obvious the factor that ties every evil thing in this story together is... orcs... NO! G O B L I N -_- )I really enjoyed this book. I will read this series through to the end based soley off this first one. As an avid fantasy fiction reader and writer I highly recommend this for a good read.If my summary left something out or you have anything you'd like to discuss or just get my recommendations on other fantasy fiction books, please feel free to leave a comment. =) Happy reading!

Great beginning of a wonderful series
I picked this book up for free through Pixel of Ink. Not ever hearing of this author and not reading any reviews, I went into this book blind. I have to say this was quite interesting read for me.First, this book started off a little slow for me. With all the arguing in the beginning of the book between Lannon's parent's, I almost gave up on this book. All I thought was, if this is the way the book is headed, I'm not going to like this. Finally the story picked up and started to get intersting.Next, I found this book to be a lot like, "Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter." At times I was expecting to hear Vorden call his black sword, "My Precious." I also looked for the name Slitherin to pop up somewhere. This story did hold it's own in some parts. However, with the trolls and goblins, trees that came to life, and dark magic, it resembled Harry Potter all to much. Also, with the adventure that Lannon, Vorden, Timlin, Jarret and Aldreya, it resembled the return of the ring to Mordor.I did however enjoy this book. I did get wrapped up in the quest to find the answer to the Goblin Puzzle. I became very upset with Vorden throughout this book. I have a feeling that this young man is going to find some BIG trouble for his friends.I am going to invest in the second book, Knights: The Hand of Tharnin. I also see that there is a third book, Knights: The Hearts of Shadows. I will have to read the second book before I jump and purchase both. I'm hoping that in the second story, we will learn more of Lannon and his friends. I'm curious about Timlin and what has happen in his past. I also want to know about Cordus, Taris and the rest of the Tower Masters. There are some very intersting characters throughout this book that could be more developed.

Thanks Mr. Keller for the free knightly e-book. Liking "Game of Thrones," I looked for books that I figured were of the same genre and chose "Knights: The Eye of Divinity."Having finished, I'd say fantasy literature is still not my favourite cup of tea but there were things I liked in the book. Lannon's posse was interesting - maybe Harry Potterish - as was the actual Eye of Divinity superpower.

Fraco.
Parece Harry Potter, só que com espadas. Não me interessei pela série, embora possa agradar a um público infanto-juvenil. Talvez.
