Awesome
For a non-medication approach this book is great. I’ve been wanting to stop taking so many pills and although I’m not ready for that to happen; this book has helped tremendously in way of recovering a balance feeling. The simple approach is natural and holistic. I highly recommend.

At last
I am all too familiar with the nightmare of PTSD. When I happened to see this book on display at a local library, I decided to look into it, despite its mentioning Dr. Phil on the cover (which would not be a selling point with me). This book is written in a very simple manner, and with wisdom and insight. As I read the first chapter, I said, 'Here at last is someone who understands something about this illness.' Psychotherapy is not generally successful as a front line approach to this illness because, as Dr. Lawlis points out, the brain of a person suffering from PTSD is not working in its normal mode, biologically. The first thing to do is take steps to re-establish normal brain function, and he makes recommendations for how to do this. I think many PTSD sufferers could find this book helpful, and also experience the uplift that comes simply from encountering an author who understands so well some of the basic realities of the problem. I was also moved by Dr. Lawlis' obvious caring for the plight of our poor service personnel who have endured such traumatizing experiences. I say more power to him. I'm very glad I read this book.

Okay book
The book, for me, was not as good as I was expecting. Look, I'm not a person with a degree. I'm a massage therapist that is certified in soothing trauma which deals with PTSD, emotional and physical abuse. When I took the course, I realized I had PTSD. I'm a Vietnam veteran. My condition is very light compared to other veterans, but it explains why my first marriage didn't work out, why I still look to see who is walking behind me, sit with my back against the wall and at times when I'm at a restaurant I turn the knife around if I have to use it in attack mode. I can also hear people walking on grass about 30 yards away.

A must read for anyone suffering with PTSD
I’ve been dealing with PTSD for awhile now. Only lately have I admitted that I’m suffering and have been taking the necessary steps to help myself. This book has been amazing and have given me a more organic way of looking at PTSD and natural ways to help. It’s been right up my alley and I would recommend this to anyone wanting to approach PTSD this way.

Great knowledge and work ups to help in different phases of PTSD!
This book is amazing on knowledge and truly helps. I love things to practice getting them to open up and do work with an individual. Really talks about all parts of it, and is not confusing. Must buy books!

so I was a little disappointed to find it was mostly geared toward PTSD suffered ...
Millions of people suffer from PTSD, so I was a little disappointed to find it was mostly geared toward PTSD suffered by soldiers. I expected some universal themes or topics. Some parts are also a bit technical. It is hard to write a review when I am somewhat removed from the target audience. Ironically, the writing was a bit depressing. I've read other books that are much more empowering and positive.

A bit helpful
I had incredibly high expectations on this book as presented on the dr Phil show. It is a help for us who are trying to help someone suffering of PTSD but it felt as it was more written for someone with PTSD as there are many tests/checks you can do to judge the severity of the PTSD you are suffering. For me that is trying to help someone I would had needed more tools to understand how to heal without having to put the person in question under more pressure at the moment. but overall ok. There are still some helpful things that I have applied and working on :)

Not for those suffering from PTSD
I have PTSD and while I found this book contains a lot of information, it is not particularly helpful for sufferers. This book does not contain a program to follow but is simply a chapter by chapter list of different things to improve health but, such as sleeping, removing toxins from your body and eating right. This is information that is already known and is hardly a breakthrough. I was disappointed in the content.
