Revitalize Your Life

Should have Been Titled "Revitalize Your Life and Go to the Doctor!"
Old man picture on the cover and the description has the words "sex life". "Ewwwww" as my wife would say. Anyway, when I bought this back in 2004, I was hankering to fit into fitness. Old man fitness seemed to be a good way to break in for a 40 year old fatty like me. He talked a lot about drinking juice. Raw, clean foods was great advice. The exercise routines were not INSANITY or P90X....unless you were in your 90s and walking to your mailbox was "exercise".Seriously, I enjoyed learning about his life. He was and is an inspiration. EXCEPT for how he played the last week of his life (as I discuss below). It's a crying shame he didn't make it to 100. Especially when that smug George Burns and the "Oh, God" baloney actually made it....smoking death sticks all the way to the end.So what the hell happened? Wikipediarific gives us some clues:"He was 96. According to his family, he had been sick for a week, but refused to see a doctor. They added that he had been performing his daily workout routine the day before his death."...."BUT... REFUSED... TO...SEE...A....DOCTOR." Can you believe it? Here...take this antibiotic, drink plenty of fluids (juice, of course), and get yer sleep. Maybe goodbye cold. Possibly goodbye potential pneumonia waiting in the wings. Maybe he thought the doctors would get him off the juice or something. He seemed kind of addicted.Anyway, I lament not seeing Tony Horton and Jack LaLanne doing a team up....can you imagine how much fun that would have been? P90X could have had a whole different meaning!

Go Jack!
Jack LaLanne has been my inspiration since I was a kid, for keeping fit. This book has great pictures that you can flag the pages and do these at your work desk. At work, I displayed a page a day as "Today's Exercise", and people stopped and looked and even practiced the exercises. This makes people laugh, too, which is probably the greatest and best exercise!I really like what he wrote, in addition to the graphics on how to do each exercise. For example: "...the food you eat today is walking and talking tomorrow."We can't leave his wife out of it either!! Elaine LaLanne was also in the demonstration photos. This is a book that makes exercise fun, and the writing lifts your spirits too!

Jack is right on about movement and health. It is hard in our present world, especially in America, to stay in shape because we have so many comforts. The body thrives on stress from exercise. Jack has demonstrated the importance of exercise and nutrition with his life. He exercised on the day he died at 96 years old! Wow. Thanks Jack.

Motivating
It's never too late to turn one's health around. I remember my mom exercising to his show in the 1960s. Lots of wisdom and inspiration.

Totally revitalized!
Jack LaLanne is such an icon to the fitness world. I remember watching his show on tv and working out with my mother when I was a little girl. In his book, he gives good practical advice and keeps it simple. He also sells great products at a reasonable price.

Jack LaLanne is a god and this is his bible
Every fitness trainer in the world owes royalties to Jack. This is common-sense advice that Jack thought of decades before it was fashionable.A man who truly walks the walk, buy it if only as a vote of support and recognition.

Great book from the expert
Who better to write a health and fitness book than Jack Lalanne--a man in his 90s who practiced what he has preached for years. His is probably the most reputable advice considering his longevity. The book was an enjoyable and informative read.
