Wallpaper* City Guide Basel 2012

this guide is almost as boring as the city of basel. and frankly, you don't really need a guide to basel. just take a stroll into the old town and visit the munster, rathaus, and the bridge over the rhine river. there, you've seen it all. now go to the train station and get friendly, free information on day trips to beautiful swiss towns, such as lucerne. as for this guide, save your money...you won't need a guide to basel.

If you are looking for a comprehensive guide book to Basel, then this is NOT it.No information on History, how to get around, etc.It was so useless we didn't bother to carry it around with us.Unfortunately I could not find another pocket size guide to Basel.

Quite who this book was written for I can't begin to guess. As a guidebook to the city it's fairly useless. No information about transport, the hotel section lists less than a dozen places to stay and the restaurant suggestions are similarly sparse. It does tell you about a handful of what might be called "architecturally interesting" buildings, but the so did the Basel pages in the DK Eyewitness book on Switzerland - besides adding a whole lot more useful information.There's a market for a well-written guidebook on this city - but Wallpaper won't corner it with this book.
