Q: Will these look good with jeans and a sport coat (the walnut color)?

Yes and No. These are a formal shoes but on the lower end of formal, meaning they could work with denim. But you'd have to pair these with dark tailored denim. So dad jeans are out of the question. Sport coat could work as well just make sure it well tailored to you. Another great place to check for outfit ideas would be pinterest.

I own quite a few pairs of AE shoes, and have most styles in Walnut, I love the color and versatility. You can wear them with at least several different suit colors, and also with slacks, chinos, dress pants and even denim. The shoe adapts well. With jeans they really pop as business to dress casual; with suits they go all the way from meeting and interview stylish, to being just a shade less than formal because of the broguing and design. You will be surprised at how versatile they are - ESPECIALLY IN WALNUT.!! Go for it.!!

Yes. This are Allen Edmonds fairly high good shoe.

Q: Do these have a metal shank?

No metal shank. AE removed the metal shank from the shoe design about 2010. Now the shoe is more comfortable to wear right out of the box.
