Jesus Christ Superstar Piano Vocal

As a voice and piano teacher I have used this particular issue of this Musical a countless number of times and many of my students have purchased it for their own personal use. It's a little less costly now than when I first bought it a few years ago. And it wears well through all types of students, even those that are somewhat careless in their handling of books. The paper is strong and I I don't mind the tan tint of the pages; it doesn't make it easier to read, but it doesn't make it harder either. This is such a GREAT MUSICAL! If you are a singer and/or pianist this book is the way to go! Of course this is assuming you like BROADWAY!

While some of the songs contained are not transposed in the original keys, this is a great book for your collection. I bought this to replace the one I bought in 1971 which had been lost over the years. It also only contains every other song. That might have been a restriction placed on the publisher by the composers when it was first printed. If you actually wanted to perform the rock opera, you would have needed to order the complete score (multiple copies) and pay heavy royalties. Technically, this still holds true. But this book will get you moving in the right direction.

This is a compilation of piano arrangements for a musical that came of age when I was a young teen.I had quit piano lessons a few years earlier and avoided even looking at the instrument in our living room, but sat back down to play again when I found this book in a local store. I learned to play most of the songs in the book ("I Only Want to Say" was my favorite) and enjoy playing to this day.I still have and enjoy this book.Great piano arrangements for a fan of this classic ALW musical.

Many of the songs sin the musical are included here. I play violin. This is good for guitar, piano and voice as well. Some things I don't like are: Not all the famous songs are included, such as one sung by Judas. Also, the frills are not included, making the music sound different than the original. Maybe they wanted to keep secrets so we don't produce the play on our own.

this one is the updated version with all the songs. It has the songs that the description says it has. I was a little concerned when I saw the other reviews, because I was looking for could we start again please. That song was written for the movie, not the play, and it's been hard to find the music for it. I'm delighted that it is in this book! I wish I had had this when I was in college, because I could have auditioned for The show my freshman year when they did it! It's one of my very favorites and I cry every time I see it. Excellent book, crisp details, no fuzzy printing. So glad I got it, I ordered another one for my friend! Love it!

It has about 13 songs from the show with sheet music. Definitely substantial, but the Last Supper and Hosanna aren’t even complete, so it’s more like 12. It’s missing the Overture, Strange Thing Mystifying, This Jesus Must Die, Simon Zealotes, The Temple, Damned For All Time, The Arrest, Judas’ Death, and Trial Before Pilate. So it’s hardly a complete collection (granted, all of them have lyrics, but not a full score)It also has very oversimplified chord diagrams for guitar (some of which I’m not even sure are correct). Not to mention its arrangement of Superstar isn’t even in the correct key. Overall, it’s passable if you’re a fan of the show, but if you want to go further than an average score, you may want to look elsewhere.

I want to learn how to play the entire Rock Opera before I die. I've been listening to this musical for 42 years starting with the original vinyl albums! I don't know how to play the piano b u t I will learn. This is the most significant life changing event in my life. I'm so sad to say I never was able to see Ted Neely perform this wonderful musical!

The musical arrangements are done very well which makes the music being played sound that much more beautiful. The intermediate level helps to give it a full rich sound and is well worth any extra effort to be able to play from this book. The only thing that I would wish is that all the songs were included, although I guess that there are more than in the original. I highly recommend this book!

I just love listening to JSC and in the car too (really loud)! Ian Gillan's voice on the original recording is out of this world. Don't get me wrong I love Ted Neely too.I was too hasty purchasing this particular book and just looked at the images for the sheet music but didn't scroll down to check the product details. The layout on the 'boring' brown cover ...the one to go for, folks,82 pages remember, is much better and the pages stay flat when one turns the page. There is nothing more irritating when you turn the page and it decides that it doesn't want to or half returns so you have to be an contortionist to reads the music. I'm sure we have all been there.
