Farm Life
A month-by-month panel painting from the New Yorker cover of December 29, 1945, shows people engaged in farm-related activities in a calendar year. There are the seasonal frames representing the major holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as scenes of people chopping wood, plowing, harvesting, threshing, and visiting. It’s a timeless look at the age-old rhythms of farming life. The puzzle is loaded with lots of slice-of-life details and overlapping seasonal colors. The image, while beautiful, is difficult to build, and requires patience and a good eye for patterns. It’s another striking composition by artist Ilonka Karasz, who also painted "The Lighthouse", Skating in the Park, and "The Cider Mill" covers that are available from the New York Puzzle Company. Her images are notable for their broad-view scenes that honor everyday people and events. This canvas reminds me of the "The Little House", a children’s book by Virginia Lee, published in 1942, that marked the passage of time through the life of a family home. In 12 vignettes, Karasz captures family and community life on the farm. This is a challenging but rewarding puzzle to build.

Lots of fun and not too difficult.
Sorting the pieces took me longer than doing the puzzle. I worked each scene as if there were twelve separate puzzles, hence the tedious sorting. This made made the 1000 piece puzzle both fun and easy. Interestingly, I ended up with an extra, duplicate piece. Hopefully, someone isn’t unhappy that their puzzle is missing one. I love The New Yorker puzzles!

Missing Pieces
Like other customers, I loved the artwork. I have completed several New Yorker puzzles. Always colorful and challenging. However, this puzzle was missing 2 pieces and I discovered 2 duplicate pieces. If only I could have exchanged the duplicates for the missing ones. So disappointing. Quality control is definitely an issue here.

extra pieces
This puzzle was very fun to do and I've done many puzzles. This is the first time I've purchased a New Yorker puzzle and there were extra pieces as you can see. I'm glad there weren't any missing from my puzzle but it does make me wonder if someone else might be missing a piece.

Love these New Yorker puzzles
This was not as easy a puzzle as I thought it would be. I do like these New Yorker puzzles. They are a good size and well done as far as the paper, color and puzzle pieces. Enjoyed this one because it took a few days to complete.

quality control issues
The puzzle was attractive and fun but two pieces were missing and there were four duplicate pieces.

No full photo of puzzle
There is a banner on the front of the puzzle box that covers a portion of the puzzle picture. There is no other photo of the puzzle so you can't see what you're trying to accomplish. The puzzle pieces don't stay together as well as most puzzles. There were 4 missing puzzle pieces and one duplicate piece. We liked the picture on the puzzle but would never buy another one from this company again.

A lot of fun
I generally prefer 500 or 750 piece puzzles, but this was very enjoyable to do, as well as being of nice quality.
