The 2012 London Olympics (The Olympics)

A Silly Uninformative Pamphlet
Someone must be confused about what an informative book about the upcoming 2012 London Olympics might be - perhaps it is me.Firstly, there is no indication that I noted in the descriptive material for this item, but it is clearly aimed at young children. In fact, I think it might be best suited for reading to a 3-year old before bedtime, and even for that purpose might be too silly. The book description mentions "athletes to watch" - I counted three. The book description mentions "sports that will be featuring" - but the book's most detailed listing seems to be "running, jumping, and throwing events."The book description mentions "a map of Olympic venues" - which turns out to be 2.5 inches by 4.5 inches - with no street names. Are you interested in the history of olympics in London? Good, because almost a third of the 32 pages are devoted to that topic. For a flavor of the tenor of the book, there is the illuminating statement about the Olympic Committee: "The team had a nervous wait to see if they had won the bid."Of the 32 pages, 6 are dedicated to glossary, index, table of contents, etc. At least in the "Find Out More" section they list four websites for further research, though of course a visit to Google with keywords "London Olympics" brings up 479 million links (...not exaggerating...)By now you should be getting the idea that I am disappointed with this book, which I had intended as an informative/inspirational piece for a young athlete in the family (11) who is just entering competitive sports at school. I'd be embarrassed to present this book to him.

For Children
When I purchased this book it was not clear whether it was for adults or children. I learned it was for children and was quite disappointed as I was looking for a helpful guide to the 2012 Olympics.

Okay
I should have read the description better. Not exactly what I was looking for as a gift for my son, but this is purely on my part by not reading the description fully.
