Mad RockOval Tech Straight Gate

I was happy surprised with how high the quality of this carabiner. It is definitely lighter than I expected.

I usually buy all my safety and climbing gear from Petzl & Sterling Rope. But this carabiner is high quality. Sample of 3: avg weight 52g (Petzl Owall = 67g). The gate spring is strong. Gate opening is a little small (20mm vs Petzl Owall 22mm). Good size carabiner. Metal pins that hold the gate in place are smooth to the touch. I've had issues with camp and Metolius carabiner pins fraying rope. Overall, happy I went with 3x for setting up top rope anchors in the John Long - Quad setup. Works great

I use this product to climb trees for hunting. It works well as part of my linesman’s rope connection. Easy to connect and disconnect.

Light and good strong closing spring. Just what I needed. Going to use for hunting so only down fall is how bright and shiny it is.

The Carbineer works just as expected. Using them to assist on safety lines for entering and exiting tree stands.

Feels good in the hand, and its nicely polished. I'm used to the Black Diamond gate's bump that lets you can feel which it opens. This one doesn't have that bump, but I don't climb any more so its no big deal. From a fit and finish perspective the Mad Rock oval beats Black Diamond for my money.
