Excellent product - pricier than similar but worth it
There are lots of positives about this product and a couple of things people might need to consider.First the positives. Very easy to coil and carry, the sturdiness of the rope effect is much better in my opinion than the flat-shaped nylon type long leads. And so far I haven't experienced any type of friction burn as I release the rope, it slips easily through your hand. The product is easy to clean as debris slides off. My regular walk takes me over rough paths, fields and muddy walkways as well as grass parks and the mud literally wipes off with your finger. And most pleasingly NO MORE KNOTS! That dance of entanglement you get with the thinner nylon ropes is pretty much gone with this lead due to the sturdiness and the way the lead glides over surfaces, around legs etc. Very easy to work with.I have been using the 10-metre rope line for a week and have found it much easier to handle than the other cheaper flat nylon lines I have used before. It also has a good weight to it which my 11-month old labrador puppy needs, but perhaps for small dogs, this might be too much of a weight for them to drag - it will depend on your dog and how much energy they have. From the other perspective, some of the positives outlined above are also potentially a weakness. I live in Scotland and it can be damp overnight, therefore, the grass in the morning is damp also. On one occasion when I didn't pay enough attention to what I was doing and training my puppy in extended distance sit-stay, my puppy was sitting and I was controlling any movement by having my foot on the slack lead line. On this occasion I only had one foot tentatively on the lead, my puppy pulled and the rope slid under my shoe and she was running free. I accept 90% of the blame here - after all, I am in charge - but I suspect if I had the flat type lead I would have had a better grip on wet grass as it is wider and flatter therefore offering a bit more purchase. But the purchase you would get on wet grass is also the same resistance you would get as your puppy weaves through trees, grass humps, bushes etc. So where you win in some areas, you lose on others. So just something else to consider when you are purchasing.Despite the above incident, I have no regrets about buying the rope style long lead and highly recommend it. It is so easily manageable and my hands are no longer slashed with small nicks to my fingers. As with any extended lead work, the owner has to pay attention to what is going on and with this lead, my work with my puppy at distance is certainly improving without having to dance around like a fool tangled in the lead most of the time. As I said, highly recommended.

Buy this, don't buy a cheap webbing lead.
The best thing we've bought for the dog. We walk on the beach all the time with our pointer puppy 5 months old. Doesn't absorb water like the cheaper webbing leads, can also leave it trailing behind the dog and it doesn't get caught on anything which gives us a 10 meter advantage if we need to stop her from doing something (like eating shells).I spray the clip with some gt85 oil every now and again so it doesn't get damaged by the salt water. I haven't rinsed or cleaned it once yet,I use it daily in all weather and it looks like new still after months of use.

Very useful.
I love this lead as it does not get tangled easily and is no bother in dirt or wet.If I am holding it I wrap it around my hand 2 or 3 times and if it is wet I wear a McWet glove to help with grip.It trails behind my puppy and very rarely bothers her.The negative comment I would make is that the clasp does not tolerate sand well. I oil it regularly and have had to use pliers to get it moving in the worst instance. Also, after only a few weeks use, the surface coating of the clasp is corroding. I always carry another lead with a different type of clasp, in case of emergency. It would be helpful if the description said 'not suitable for use on sand'.

Would not recommend, purely because of the material it’s made of
This isn’t a practical material for using as a training line. If the dogs runs and you try to grab it, it burns the skin on your hands because it slips through. It also slips through grass if you try to stand on it so doesn’t serve it’s purpose. I also had it wrap around my bare ankle when my dog started running and I still have a scar where it gave me a bad friction burn. Unfortunately cannot recommend this product at all.

Lives up to expectation
This long line is just what I was looking for. I'd read good things about biothane, and this lives up to that reputation. It slides easily through the grass so my dog can drag it behind him easily. It gets soaking wet, but doesn't absorb any of the water, so doesn't get heavy. The other day it got pretty muddy, but a quick wipe with a cloth as I'm putting it away and it's as good as new.

A training lead that doesn't come with a handle creates problems
I bought this to train my retriever puppy but after using it a couple of times gave up because it doesn't have a handle. I tied lashing it to another rope and I tried creating a handle but both solutions proved unsatisfactory and it is now an expensive white elephant. I didn't return it because once disappointed, on re-checking the photograph, I could see that it clearly didn't have a handle (but I hadn't spotted that when I bought it)

Much better than nyon
Got this because using a nylon long lead was becoming a joke, tangled every few minutes and getting friction burns, this lead is sturdy and doesnt get tangled and caught all the time, holds back my GSD fine

Brilliant long line
Perfect for training our golden retriever. Bought this on the advice given from Jo Laurens book, "Force free gundog training". Has been perfect for us. No handle on the end of the line, but this is what we wanted amd expected. Quick delivery. Overall, couldn't be happier.
