Top Tasting Granola
I would eat this by choice over the supermarket brands on taste alone. It's great to see this brand on Amazon as I have only seen it in Ireland before. I don't have to eat gluten free, but my neighbour, with whom I shared this, does and she really loves this too. Perfect with fresh raspberries and blueberries on top for breakfast!

Interesting texture, not too sweet, but very, very heavy on cinnamon
These small boxes of artisan gluten free granola met with a mixed reception in my household. The Ancient Grains recipe is for much of the experience really very light for a granola – lots of little, light pieces plus puffed rice – there’s still a good bit of body to it, thanks to the large quantity of sultanas (which keep it chewy) and pumpkin seeds.I wasn’t overly keen on this. I liked that it’s got a bit of sweetness without being too sweet. I liked the texture of the mix, and its difference from a traditional oat-based granola. But for my taste, this is far too heavy on cinnamon. The cinnamon flavour is really strong and dominant. It gives a warming quality, but I found it overpowering and a bit medicinal, and it left my mouth feeling tingly and a bit sore. My husband, by contrast, loves cinnamon and is very happy with this. I might try mixing a bit of this in with crumble topping - to add interest and texture to a basic crumble, and allow the cinnamon to be dispersed and calmed down a bit.

Very crunchy
Can be too hard on your teeth. If you have sensitive teeth you should let it soak in your bowl for a while.

Strong cinnamon taste
This granola is made of puffed rice, quinoa, some dried fruits and some other cereals. Before I have ordered I did not read the ingredients, which I have done just after having eaten it. It contains cinnamon, I hate cinnamon. It is one of the last ingredients but the taste is quite strong. My husband likes it so fortunately he is going to finish all these boxes. The price is quite good I would say.The presentation wasn't nice. When I first opened the box I could see some filament you sometimes see in the old shops when something has been left there for ages. It wasn't expired though but expiring soon, the 24th of April. It is quite crunchy, less than expected. From my point of view I wouldn't recommend.

Pricey but very nicey...
Granola has to be one of my favourite things to eat and I even used to make my own, so trying a new brand isn’t a chore for me. This Maria Lucia range was new to me but it’s been an interesting discovery and this Ancient Grains variety is my preferred one from those I’ve tried so far. I was a bit disappointed with the small size of the packets, given how pricey it is, and although they claim to each contain 8 servings they’d have to be quite small servings. As mentioned, I love Granola so maybe my lack of portion control is the biggest problem here…On the plus side the little packets are really chock-full of good things and this Ancient Grains variety avoids the usual oats and instead is based around buckwheat and millet with puffed rice and quinoa to give a variety of crunchy textures. The sweetness comes from sultanas, honey and desiccated coconut and there’s a hint of treacle in here too. There’s also a hint of Cinnamon, enhanced by that treacle, but none of the sweeteners or flavours are overdone and it all goes together nicely. The only element I don’t like are the sultanas which have been toasted along with the other ingredients and so they’re a bit dry, hard and too chewy. I had the same problem when I made my own Granola and I think I either left the fruit out of the oven-toasting and added them later or maybe I part-toasted the fruit, I can’t remember now. It might not be practical to do that with commercially made Granola but if the fruit could be a bit softer it would improve the eating experience a lot.Eaten on its own this Granola is a nice treat, the flavour is good and it’s moreish without being too sugary and sweet. Some people will find it a bit too birds-seed-like I’m sure, but I don’t mind that and would happily have this as part of breakfast. It mixes nicely with other breakfast cereals too, like porridge or high-fibre cereals, and adds some natural goodness. It’s especially unusual to get a Granola that’s oat-free but you don’t really miss them and if you’re actively trying to avoid them then maybe you’ve found your perfect Granola.

Can confirm this doesn’t taste like crap
This is actually edible with milk. I had it with the regular “blue” cap milk.It was alright. I’d give it maybe 4 stars because it tastes alright, not amazing.(I can actually eat gluten because I’m a normal person.)

Nice texture but overpowered by cinnamon
Initial views: the window on the box is good, since it lets you see what's inside, however the window on the initial box I opened didn't show any of the fruit in it. It simply looked like puffed rice mixed with "ancient grains" that resembled cous cous.Once I opened the box, it was clear that the "granola" was a lot nicer looking than the window suggested. 10/10 for the amount of fruit in it. Lots of natural sugars to add sweetness and flavour. In terms of taste, my biggest disappointment is with the amount of cinnamon in it. It really does overpower the flavour. I don't mind a little cinnamon, however my wife wouldn't try it because of this. Once I'd finished my first bowl, all I could taste for the next 10 minutes was cinnamon.Regarding the mix of the "granola", the amount of fruit is great, however the sultanas are quite firm compared with the rest of it. The puffed rice could be a little firmer but the seeds, etc are just right.Would I eat it again? Despite the couple of issues above, I will certainly finish the rest of the first box off and will decide what to do afterwards. At £3.49 per box, it is quite expensive, however for someone intolerant to certain foods, it does at least give them another option for their breakfast. On this basis, I've given it a generous 4 stars.
