CRAFTSMANNextec 12-volt Compact Drill/driver

I just replaced my original, which started sparking and smoking after 10 years of casual use. You get a lot of power for something so light weight. This is my go-to for light duty and household work. It's especially useful for tight or difficult to reach spaces. And it's nice getting an extra battery.BTW, if your winter gets below freezing, store your batteries in a heated space. Never let them get below freezing. They should last twice as long. That sort of goes for all rechargeable batteries (except lead-acid).

The produce was at a reasonable price that came new in the original box with charger, battery, and information. It is the second nextec drill owned, it's light and compact.

This is the second Craftsman Nextec 12-volt Compact Drill/driver. Although I have other major brand drill/drivers, the Nextec is used the most. If I am working on a project that requires a second person, both of us can use the same drill model. Another reason for purchasing it, at a good price, is if I need to drill a "pilot" hole before screwing an attachment to a wall, having a drill bit in one drill/driver and the appropriate screwdriver hesd in the other drill/driver will help to provide an easier installation.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of this little drill. I was pleasantly surprised however. It is very powerful for being so small, and has a good number of different settings. Battery lasts a decent amount of time, and recharges quickly. compact size allows for easy storage in a tool belt.

I bought my Nextec 12v Craftsman drill in 2010. It has been through several house rehabs, lots of use as a driver on my cars etc. I loved it so much that when Sears went out of business I found one on mega sale and bought a second one. I figured my first one should be dying before too much longer....But both are still going strong. Even the original battery in the one from 2010!!! I can't tell the batteries or drills apart. Really incredible. I added the auto hammer when I built a fence years ago. Now, I admit, I didn't pay anywhere near the price they ask for these today (it was a long time ago). These days, I'm moving over to Ridgid 18v tools. But I'm having a hard time spending the money for the Ridgid drill because my Craftsman Nextec drills just won't die!
